A female teacher nicknamed ‘Bunda Becky’ has been banned from schools for life after she had sex with two teenage boys.
Rebecca Joynes, 32, slept with the pupils at a Manchester school before becoming pregnant with one of their children in March 2023.
The disgraced maths teacher was convicted last year of six counts of sexual activity with a child and sentenced to six and a half years in prison.
One victim said he was ‘coerced, controlled, manipulated, sexually abused and mentally abused’ by Joynes after she groomed the two schoolboys from the age of 15.
A Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) misconduct panel has now struck off Joynes for life, as it found her criminal offending involved repeated serious sexual misconduct towards children and had a profound effect on them.
Joynes had been on bail for sexual activity with the first boy when she began having sex with the second boy whose child she later gave birth to.
The judge said she displayed ‘breathtaking arrogance in your conduct’ and ‘exploited the priveleged role for your own sexual gratification’.
‘Both boys were very much victims, obviously unworldly and vulnerable to the advances from an older attractive woman,’ the judge added.
Joynes previously told her trial at Manchester Crown Court that she ‘was lonely and liked the attention’ after the end of a nine-year relationship

One boy said: ‘I felt backed into a corner. I had just lived a double life for 18 months behind my family’s back.’
Joynes did not attend the Teaching Regulation Agency misconduct panel and was not represented.
She was sacked from the unnamed school in 2022 for gross misconduct – four years after she began teaching 11-18-year-olds.
Both victims were in Year 11 and taught maths by her.
She had sex with Pupil A in october 2021 and was reported to police.
She was suspended from work and bailed by police but she communicated with Pupil B who was 15 at the time.
The TRA panel heard they kissed but after he was 16 years old they regularly had sex which continued after he left the school in June 2022.
In March 2023 she became pregnant with his child – and their relationship ended in June that year.

The panel said her criminal offending involved repeated serious sexual misconduct towards children and had a profound effect on them.
Decision maker Marc Cavey said Joynes is banned for life from teaching.
Philip Thompson, who chaired the panel, said: ‘The panel noted that the behaviour involved in committing the offence had a serious and potentially longstanding harmful impact on the safety and/or security of the children in question.
‘It noted what was said in the pre-sentence report “that the trajectory of his [Pupil B] life-has been forever altered” and that Pupil B had said, “Ultimately, I will forever be Rebecca’s victim and forever linked to her through our child”.
‘It further noted that in her sentencing remarks, Individual A considered that both pupils had been ‘groomed’ by Ms Joynes and that she also exhibited “control” over both.
‘It was very clear to the panel that Ms Joynes’ criminal offending involved repeated serious sexual misconduct towards children which resulted in a criminal sentence with a particularly high tariff.
‘It noted the profound impact that Ms Joynes’ offending had had onher victims and that the offences in respect of Pupil B had been committed whilst on bail in relation to the offences relating to Pupil A.
‘It considered that this demonstrated MsJoynes’ scant regard for the seriousness of her actions.’
Banning her from the profession for life, Marc Cavey, for the Education Secretary, added: ‘I have also taken into account the panel’s comments on insight and remorse, which it sets out as follows: “There was no evidence of insight, remorse or remediation from MsJoynes”.
‘In my judgement, the lack of evidence of insight and remorse means that there is some risk of the repetition of this behaviour and this puts at risk the future wellbeing of pupils.
‘I have therefore given this element considerable weight in reaching my decision.
‘In this case, I have placed considerable weight on the very serious nature of the misconduct found by the panel, which include offences involving sexual activity with children.’
Joynes, whose parents run a successful tea-room in an upmarket part of the Wirral, had moved away following a messy break-up to start her ‘dream job’ at the school in a deprived area of Greater Manchester.
Jurors were previously told she was bombarded with comments from boys in her Year 11 maths class about how ‘sexy’ she was and earned the nickname ‘Bunda Becky’, a slang reference to her bottom.
Joynes, who had attended court with a pink baby bonnet tucked into her outfit, broke down in tears when the guilty verdicts were announced.
She had insisted during the trial that Boy A was lying about having sex and claimed she had not slept with Boy B until July 2022 – by which time he had left school and she had been sacked.
A relative of one of the boys, who did not wish to be identified, said after she was convicted on all six counts: ‘It’s the right verdict.’
Jane Wilson, senior crown prosecutor for CPS North West, said after the guilty verdicts: ‘Rebecca Joynes is a sexual predator.
‘Joynes was entrusted with the responsibility of teaching and safeguarding children. She abused her position to groom and ultimately sexually exploit schoolboys. Her behaviour has had a lasting impact on them.’
