Brooklyn Beckham sent the internet into a meltdown on Monday by sharing a multi-part series on Instagram with bombshell claims against parents David Beckham and Victoria Beckham – but some have joked the writing was on the wall decades before the feud began.

In 2007, fashion icon Victoria had a cameo in the comedy series Ugly Betty, starring America Ferrera, where she stole the limelight from the bride, Wilhelmina Slater (played by Vanessa Williams).

Victoria played Wilhelmina’s maid of honour and went on to make the day all about herself. 

In one memorable scene, Wilhelmina proudly showed off her stunning Vera Wang wedding gown, only for Posh Spice – with her signature early 2000s blonde bob – to step out in a sexy, eye-catching outfit, with everyone immediately shifting their attention to her instead. 

In recent days, fans couldn’t help but point out the parallels between the clip and the recent bombshell allegations made against Sir David and Lady Beckham by their eldest son.

On Monday, Brooklyn, 26, made a series of salacious Instagram stories about his 2022 Florida wedding, including claims his mother, 51, dramatically intervened in what was meant to be his romantic first dance with Nicola, 31.

Brooklyn alleged his mother danced ‘inappropriately,’ which left him feeling ‘more uncomfortable and humiliated than ever in his life’ and overshadowed the most important moment of his wedding day. 

He also claimed that Victoria cancelled the making of Nicola’s wedding dress and reportedly brought his former girlfriends around him to ‘make him uncomfortable’.

Now, eagle-eyed fans have been poking fun at the eerie resemblance between the cameo appearance that took place nearly two decades before the events of Brooklyn’s wedding.

‘Victoria Beckham upstaging the bride is literally a storyline from Ugly Betty,’ commented one user on X, formerly Twitter.

‘Victoria Beckham making someone else’s wedding about herself happened in Ugly Betty too 19 years ago,’ shared someone else. 

‘I was literally watching this today and had the same thought!’ laughed another. 

Someone else commented: ‘She didn’t even have to act here.’ 

‘She was already giving signs!’ agreed another. 

Someone else snarked: ‘Always wanting to steal the thunder.’ 

The dress that Victoria donned in the series also vaguely resembled the silver metallic slip gown the designer wore to Brooklyn’s wedding in 2022, with a slinky silhouette and V-shaped neckline.

Amid the family feud, fans have been quick to take sides with many now sharing their doubts over Brooklyn’s claims after finding social media videos of a ‘drunk’ Victoria showing off her dancing with her family.

One video showed Victoria dancing with both Brooklyn and Nicola after the premiere of the actress’s film Lola in 2024, while another featured the designer in a montage of dance clips, including a viral moment with her husband Sir David from his Netflix series.

Comparing Victoria to ‘an average mother after one too many vinos,’ many users also shared in the comments that Nicola looked ‘happy’ to be in her mother-in-law’s company, a stark contrast to the image painted by Brooklyn’s statement.

While the allegations have not been publicly addressed, a resurfaced clip from Sir David’s Netflix documentary, BECKHAM, released in October 2023, shows the former footballer got emotional as he talked about how proud he is of his sons.

‘They could be little s**ts but they’re not and that’s why I say I’m so proud of my children,’ he said.

‘And I’m so in awe of my children, the way they’ve turned out,’ David added in a tearful piece to camera.

The episode David’s teary confession was in, included a scene where he was seen cooking with Brooklyn.
