Former primer minister Rishi Sunak posted a photo of himself on crutches after ‘showing off to his daughters’ while skiing over the Easter holidays.

Now serving as an MP for Richmond and Northallerton, he reassured constituents his apparently minor injury would not get in the way of his work.

In a post on Facebook, he wrote: ‘Pushed my luck on the slopes this Easter showing off to my daughters.

‘I’m already on the mend and determined to keep up with my meetings and constituency work (although sadly no walks with Nova for a while).

‘Thanks to everyone who’s been in touch. Looking forward to getting back to full fitness soon and seeing many of you in the coming weeks.’

It is not known where Mr Sunak, 45, and his family had been skiing but he has since returned.

He added: ‘Thankfully there’s no shortage of sport on TV this month!’

Mr Sunak’s daughters Krishna, 15, and Anoushka, 13, are largely kept away from the public eye.

It’s not the first time that Mr Sunak and his daughters have fallen foul of winter sports as in January 2022, he was pictured falling on top of Krishna in an embarrassing moment while ice skating at the Natural History Museum.

Fellow skater Maddie had been skating with her boyfriend James and said at the time: ‘He landed on his kid and James offered to help him up and he totally blanked him.

‘He was skating for ten minutes before he staggered and dragged her down.

‘People were all looking and had previously been taking pics.’

After he recovered and got back onto his skates, he was soon taking selfies with shocked onlookers.

Mr Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty, 45, were the wealthiest couple to ever call 10 Downing Street home, their combined net worth sitting pretty at £651million as of May 2024, the Sunday Times Rich List revealed.

That’s just over King Charles’ fortune which is around £640million.

Now a businesswoman and fashion designer, Mrs Murty is the daughter of one of the richest men in India – billionaire N. R. Narayana Murthy – who has been described as the father of the Indian IT sector and ‘one of the 12 greatest businessmen of all time’.

The majority of the fortune is said to have come from Mrs Murty’s 0.94 per cent stake in IT giant Infosys, co-founded by her father.

Mr Murthy, 79, is worth approximately $4.1billion (£3.1billion) as of March this year after building Infosys with a small seed capital into a multi-billion-pound global firm.

Mr Sunak is the son of a GP father and pharmacist mother who emigrated to Southampton from East Africa in the 1960s, and he studied at Oxford University before winning a Fulbright scholarship to Stanford where the future husband and wife met.

Recently, the former PM became ’emotional’ when joining the celebration marking the Coast to Coast Walk’s status as one of the UK’s National Trails.
