One of the oldest homes in Britain that was constructed almost seven centuries ago is tipped to sell for more than £390,000.
Old Smithy Cottages, located in Brewood, Stafford, has been continuously lived in ever since it was first built almost 700 years ago.
The Grade II-listed property is the oldest residential property in Staffordshire, and also ranks among the most ancient in the UK.
Originally, the five-bedroom home was a row of cottages for workers in the ancient market town.
But after surviving centuries, it is now a spacious family home which boasts a large 0.2-acre garden.
The property also boasts two bathrooms, four reception rooms and a generous open-plan kitchen, with nearly 3,000 square feet of floor space.
But the black-and-white timber-framed home has managed to retain many of its features, including an Inglenook-style fireplace, exposed ceiling beams and a moulded crown post roof.
The 14th-century home is located in the heart of the South Staffordshire village, near highly regarded schools, as well as traditional pubs, local shops and cafes.
And now it is being sold at auction by Landwood Group, who are opening the bidding at a minimum of £393,000.
Partner James Ashworth said: ‘This is a rare chance to own one of England’s most significant historic homes.

‘Old Smithy Cottages is a piece of living history.
‘To find a property that has survived from the 14th Century and remained a cherished home for nearly 700 years is incredibly rare.
‘What makes this property even more remarkable is how it has adapted over the centuries.
‘It offers the space and flexibility that modern families require, but does so within a framework of stunning period features, from massive arch braces to its iconic timber-framed facade.’
Despite its age, the house is conveniently located for modern commuter living, with quick access to the M54 and M6 motorways.
The property will go under the hammer on June 24 via an online auction.
