A mother-of-three who had only been driving for five days was left furious after receiving a shock note on her car shaming her for parking like an ‘absolute idiot’.

Shannon Kain, 30, was visiting a friend in the leafy West Yorkshire village of Holmbridge when she parked up neatly behind a line of cars.

But when the driver returned to her Skoda Fabia, she spotted a car parked opposite hers and a note tucked under her windscreen wiper.

Pulling out the piece of paper, the supermarket worker was left shocked to see a note, written in block capitals, slamming her for her parking.

It read: ‘You have parked like an absolute idiot!

‘Emergancy [sic] services would not be able to get through! Be considerate!’

Ms Kain was left so furious, she took to Facebook to call out the anonymous note-poster and justify her parking.

She wrote: ‘To the lovely person who left this on my car last night…I am a new driver and admittedly aren’t brilliant at parking just yet, however I’m far from inconsiderate.

‘I made sure before leaving my car there was plenty of room for cars/vans or even bigger to get through.

‘My car is absolutely tiny so I really believe the ’emergancy’ services definitely would have been able to get through.

‘As you mention consideration though, where was your consideration? As I said, I’m a new driver.. I’d had my car for five days when you posted your little anonymous note.

‘If you have a problem please feel free to message me! And while you’re at it grab a dictionary too and learn how to spell EMERGENCY before you leave notes on other people’s property because now you look even more stupid.’

Explaining the situation, Ms Kain revealed that she had only been driving for five days before going to visit her friend.

‘She lives in a little village in this absolutely beautiful area full of lovely people. It’s quite posh, so you don’t expect stuff like that up there’, she said.

‘The little cul-de-sac is quite busy for parking. I was looking for a parking spot outside my friend’s spot but two other people were parked there.

‘I found a spot a bit further down the road and I thought “you know what I’ll just pull in here and I’ll walk”.

After returning to her car and noticing the note she said she ‘couldn’t believe it’.

Ms Kain added: ‘I checked when I got out that I wasn’t double parked, I wasn’t covering anyone’s drive and I wasn’t too close to anybody, so I was quite happy with how I’d parked.

‘When I posted the post I said “if I park ‘like an idiot’ in future I’ll be at number XX”. If you have a problem you can quite happily come and speak to me about it.

‘I felt like it was a bit silly leaving it anonymous. What’s anybody going to gain from that? You’ve left a note.

‘I’m quite thick skinned, I’m not someone who lets things bother me that much.

‘If this was to a new driver who was either really young or someone who has really bad anxiety and they get a note like that it could knock their confidence and it could make them not want to drive again.

‘I just thought it was really horrible. I thought the whole thing was petty.

‘I’d say to whoever wrote it, I’d think twice about being hypocritical. They’re talking about being considerate, but they’re not being considerate themselves.

‘It’s not going to make me think twice about how I park in future. mainly because I didnt think it was a “me” issue.’
