A motorist has been caught on camera scuffling with another driver and smashing him over the head with a rock during a terrifying road rage attack.

The shocking incident happened in broad daylight in a suburb of Coventry after a Mercedes driver reportedly rear-ended another vehicle after turning out from a junction towards a roundabout.

According to an eyewitness, the Mercedes driver was taking pictures of his damaged car when the other motorist got out of his vehicle to confront him in Lower Ford Street, Hillfields, last Wednesday.

A video captured by a witness shows both men throwing punches at each other, before ending up on the ground.

The Mercedes driver is then seen hitting the other motorist over the head with a rock.

In later moments, the second motorist can be seen driving his car into the side of the Mercedes and completely wrecking the vehicle.

The man taking the video, who wished to remain anonymous, said: ‘I saw the Mercedes come out from that junction even though it was not his right of way.

‘The other guy in the car behind him was beeping, so the Mercedes did an emergency brake and the guy behind went straight into the back of him.

‘I didn’t film it, but the other man was trying to run the Mercedes driver over at first as he got out of the car to take pictures for insurance.

‘When he couldn’t hit him, that’s when he drove straight into the side of the Mercedes.

‘I was just really shocked to be honest. It looked like a movie scene.

‘There was lots of blood.’

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: ‘Officers arrived to reports of a collision in Lower Ford Street, Coventry, at around 7pm on Wednesday, May 29, involving two vehicles.

‘I was really shocked’: A bystander who filmed the fight said he was taken aback at the violence

‘Following the collision, a disorder broke out.

‘One man was arrested on suspicion of affray and has since been bailed while the investigation is ongoing.
