If you hope that your team can Taste success this year, you may be best off asking Sabrina Carpenter to Please Please Please not wear your jersey. Otherwise, you may be left with Slim Pickins – unless, of course, this is just one big Coincidence.

Much like how Drake’s betting habits have led to demise for many sports teams, Carpenter’s recent decision to wear sports jerseys has inadvertently cursed those same teams she’s honoring.

Recently, Carpenter has been working late (because she’s a singer) – going around the United States and Canada on her ‘Short n Sweet Tour’.

But, as it was pointed out by Shawn Depaz, the producer for the hockey podcast ‘What Chaos!’, Carpenter’s recent attire has spelled doom for the teams she’s representing.

The most recent example comes after a pair of teams suffered notable defeats on Wednesday night.

Major League Baseball’s Philadelphia Phillies needed a victory against the New York Mets in order to stay alive in the postseason.

Unfortunately for them, they lost that game and were eliminated from the playoffs.

That same evening, the Toronto Maple Leafs opened their NHL season on the road against their hated rivals – the Montreal Canadiens.

Despite putting up 47 shots, the Leafs were shut out in a 1-0 defeat.

What do those two teams have in common? Sabrina Carpenter.

The ‘Espresso’ singer wore a custom Maple Leafs jersey when she performed at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on September 25.

When she stopped to do a hometown show in Philadelphia on October 8, she wore another custom jersey – supporting her hometown Phillies – with the baseball team losing the same night to go down 2-1 in the series before eventually getting eliminated.

But it’s not just North American sports that have felt the wrath of Ms. Carpenter’s wardrobe.

Over the summer, Carpenter wore an England kit during the Summertime Ball festival at Wembley Stadium on June 16 – the same day the Three Lions beat Serbia in their group stage opener at the Euros.

But England lost in the final of the tournament in a 2-1 heartbreaker to Spain.

Need further convincing? Over that same summer, Carpenter was spotted out with a friend wearing a then-unreleased Manchester United shirt – which would go on to be revealed as their goalkeeper kit.

While Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has done decently for himself this season, the Red Devils have not.

Currently, under manager Erik ten Hag, United sit 14th at the international break – the worst start to a Premier League campaign in the club’s history.

Fans of teams in the remaining 22 cities that Carpenter stops at on the North American leg of her tour may be hoping that she doesn’t wear their jerseys.

Stops include major cities like Chicago, Houston, Denver, Vancouver, Seattle, Phoenix, and Los Angeles – as well as college towns like Raleigh, North Carolina and Charlottesville, Virginia.

Carpenter’s 2024 album release ‘Short n Sweet’ has been No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for four weeks and is the pop star’s first Platinum-certified record.
