- She was nicknamed Catwoman due to her pronounced cat eyes
- The socialite has had a drastic transformation over the years
- She denied having plastic surgery at one point
Jocelyn Wildenstein, the woman who was known for her drastically changing face and alleged cosmetic procedures, has passed away at the age of 84.
The socialite, who was nicknamed Catwoman due to her pronounced cat eyes and leonine features, certainly went through somewhat of a transformation over the years – but actually denied having plastic surgery at one point.
Jocelyn was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, on August 5, 1940, and it’s been reported that she started undergoing cosmetic procedures after she got married to Alec N. Wildenstein in April of 1978.
Over the years, she developed slanted cat eyes, a prominent chin, and exaggerated cheek bones.
She was adamant however, that her looks didn’t come from plastic surgery, but rather, from her Swiss heritage.
Her ex-husband Alec, who died in February 2008, told a different story.
He once said: ‘She was thinking that she could fix her face like a piece of furniture. Skin does not work that way. But she wouldn’t listen.’
Throwback photos of Jocelyn prove she needn’t have done so as she was certainly a natural beauty before she allegedly went under the knife.

Speculation about her face began in the late 90s during her divorce from Alec N. Wildenstein. Jocelyn is pictured here in February 1999
In a photo she shared on Instagram back in August, Jocelyn was seen with her daughter Diane as a baby – and she looked radiant with regular sized features.
It’s believed that Jocelyn was age 39 or 40 in the photo, but by the time she was in her fifties, her face looked very different.
During her 1999 divorce from Alec, Jocelyn claimed that she kept getting cosmetic procedures partially because Alec ‘hated to be with old people.’
However, she had insisted to Vanity Fair the year prior that her catlike features were actually natural.
‘The lynx has perfect eyes. If I show you pictures of my grandmother, what you see is these eyes – cat eyes – and high cheekbones,’ Jocelyn said.
But Alec rubbished her quotes and told the magazine of his ex-wife: ‘She was crazy. I would always find out last.
‘She was thinking that she could fix her face like a piece of furniture. Skin does not work that way. But she wouldn’t listen.’
According to reports, Jocelyn was awarded $2.5 billion in the divorce, along with an additional $100 million annually for the next 13 years.

As part of the settlement, the judge in their divorce case reportedly ordered Jocelyn not to spend any of the settlement money on cosmetic surgeries.
Despite the obvious change in her appearance, Jocelyn at one time bizarrely claimed to have never had plastic surgery.
In a 2018 interview with DailyMailTV alongside her fashion designer then-fiancé Lloyd Klein, the Swiss-born Manhattan socialite explained that her distinct appearance dated back to her youth.
She credited her Swiss background for her ‘high cheekbones and long hair,’ which she said helped her channel French actress Brigitte Bardot.
‘It’s wild. Usually when we go to restaurants or some French places, they go,”Hi, Brigitte.” And I’m like, “Actually you do, you do look like Brigitte Bardot,”‘ Lloyd said.
‘And I don’t understand the whole press and the Catwoman thing because Jocelyn always looked like that.
‘She never really did anything to change her face. I have pictures from 16 years old where she looks exactly the same as today.’
When asked if she had undergone surgery Jocelyn replied: ‘No, especially when we look back at my pictures – I think of course I am maybe more beautiful [back then].

‘When we are young there’s a certain freshness we lose with the years. But you still find the same eyes, same high cheeks, or same nose. I think I was more pretty.’
Jocelyn doubled down on her denial in a more recent interview in November 2024 with The Sun.
‘I haven’t had plastic surgery, I am scared of what can happen and I don’t like to have something heavy, sometimes it is a bit heavy and terrible,’ she told the publication.
She also said that she hadn’t had any fillers and had heard unfortunate stories from those who have.
‘I don’t like the Botox,’ she said, before adding: ‘Everyone has a different reaction to it.
‘I have had Botox only twice. I don’t know if I am allergic, but when I had it, it did not go well with me. It was not a good result, my face swelled up.’
