Thousands of boozy revellers hit the town last night – making the most of the festive season before Santa arrived.

Partygoers across the UK rang in the special day in style leaving many bleary-eyed Brits waking up with hangovers this Christmas morning.

Drinkers located the few open bars before dancing the night away donning sparkly outfits and festive jumpers.

Images show revellers full of Christmas cheer as they celebrated with family and friends.

Many were wrapped up in coats and scarves to avoid the winter chill, but some brave souls bore all in dresses and skirts.

Let’s hope sore heads won’t damper festive spirits as Christmas day gets underway.
