The retirement rust was evident for baseball legend David Ortiz at the gender reveal for his fourth child.

Ortiz, 48, and his pregnant girlfriend Maria Yeribell Martinez paid homage to his baseball days with the gender reveal. But after a long career of knocking balls from the world’s best pitchers, ‘Big Papi’ failed to hit a ball which was gently lobbed in front of him.

Ortiz hit nothing but air as he swung for the ball. Nevertheless, the blue confetti told everyone that he and Martinez will be having a son. The clip ends with Ortiz and friends celebrating after he momentarily tried to find the ball.

Fans took to social media to comment on the hilarious miss from one of baseball’s greatest hitters.

‘If Joaquin Benoit threw it, he would have crushed it,’ one fan commented.
