An American man has left Brits in hysterics after he posted his reaction to watching The Inbetweeners for the first time.

Andy Padilla, from Austin in Texas, shared footage of himself watching the 2012 comedy film while cackling with laughter, prompting amusement from Brits.

The sitcom, which focused on the hilarious lives of four teenagers in Britain, aired for three series between 2008-2010, before being adapted into two films.

It means that Andy is somewhat late to the game – but UK viewers were delighted that he found it so hilarious and encouraged him to keep watching.

Andy’s first clip, posted to TikTok under the username @and_yp512, went viral and now has more than 720,000 views.

He told the camera: ‘They’re going up to talk to these girls, watch!’ before howling with laughter.

In the comments section, Andy admitted he hadn’t known there was also a series, and had only ‘watched the movie’.

‘I didn’t know there was a show until after I posted this video and people commented on it!’ he said.

However, he has now begun to watch the series, and is documenting his reaction along the way.

Clips he has shared so far include the infamous ‘waterpark’ scene from the second Inbetweeners film, Simon’s attempts to flirt with Tara in season three of the series.

After viewing the TikToks, Brits were left almost as amused by Andy’s laughter as by the comedy show itself.

‘Inbetweeners is the most accurate take on British teen life ever made’;

‘As a Brit, the inbetweeners is our youth culture. Best comedy’;

‘Your laugh made this 10000 times funnier! These guys are our British sweethearts’;

‘As someone who was a teenager lad in England from 2008-2015 this is the most accurate representation’;

‘The scary thing is we can all see ourselves/people we grew up with in these characters.’

Americans have come under fire previously for their takes on the Inbetweeners, even including a spin-off show that was eventually cancelled after just one season.

The classic show propelled its four protagonists Simon Bird, James Buckley, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison to stardom.

In January, Buckley and Thomas reunited for a selfie ten years after the hit franchise, sending fans wild.
