A bride was left fuming after a ‘disrespectful’ guest refused to take his screaming baby outside – despite the nuptials being strictly ‘adult-only’.

Claire Kendall Taetz, from Fort Worth, Texas, had just walked down the aisle when she began to hear a bawling infant behind her.

Praying that the parent would take the child outside, Claire began to grow increasingly ‘irritated’ as the wailing persisted, leaving her unable to focus on delivering her vows.

One wedding reveler caught the incident on camera, with a clip showing the baby continuing to howl as the bride and groom, Joshua Joe, both 25, exchanged vows.

They can even be seen swapping ‘concerned’ glances as frustrated members of the wedding party search to spot where the screeching is coming from.

According to Claire, who works as an actor, some of the guests even went as far as to ask the father to leave – but he he refused on the grounds that he had ‘driven 10 hours to see it’.

He then took the child outside ‘for a second’ before returning to catch the rest of the ceremony.

The bride said she was distracted from the ceremony by the baby’s sobbing and she felt ‘disrespected’ given she’d requested a child-free wedding aside from the pair’s nieces and nephews.

Footage of the wedding, which was shot in October, has been viewed 2.5 million times on social media.

Claire, who kept her surname, said she wanted to encourage future brides to keep their wedding’s child-free to avoid the same fate as her.

She said: ‘No children were invited aside from our nieces and nephews and I wish that our wish had been honored.

‘Once I made my way down the aisle and my sister had re-adjusted my dress I was made aware of the baby crying.

‘At first I understood babies can have a bad time and I was hoping the parent would promptly take the child out.

‘But as the officiate went on, so did the crying.

‘I was holding my tongue because I don’t think it’s acceptable for a bride to say something.

‘I looked at my mum and she was gesturing to take the baby out so he stepped out for a second but he came right back inside.

‘I was confused but also trying to stay present because it was an important moment so I tried to focus on my soon-to-be husband and on the officiate.

‘My husband was concerned as well and in the video you can see he was trying to lock in, despite the child fussing loudly.

‘I was just on edge the whole time. I wanted to be fully present for my vows.

‘The crying baby definitely distracted me and left me feeling disrespected.’

She stressed that it was not the child’s fault, but rather that ‘the father didn’t have the courtesy to excuse himself out and that took away from the atmosphere in a monumental moment of my life’.

‘He refused to go out because he drove 10 hours to see the wedding.’

Claire said she believes it is a parent’s responsibility to keep their child under control and avoid them disturbing such a ‘special’ occasion.

She said admitted that she didn’t confront the man after the ceremony – but added that several others told her the incident they were ‘annoyed’ that the ordeal had made her uncomfortable.

The actor added that guests should be there ‘to support your marriage’ and that the crying ‘was not the most comforting thing to hear’.

‘Everyone thinks their child will behave but children are not extensions of us because we all have our own emotions and free will,’ she continued.

‘You can’t predict how a child will behave in a situation like this and it’s your responsibility to help them regulate their emotions.

‘I didn’t say anything to [the dad] about it because I was socialising with many guests but I did have people come up to me and express their frustration.

‘I don’t want that to be the thing people take away from the ceremony.

‘I don’t like conflict because it makes me uncomfortable and to know people were talking about it made me feel uncomfortable.

‘The ceremony was still so sweet and special that I don’t think the baby spoiled it but it did take my focus in and out, especially when you have a lot of nerves.’

Claire insisted that she loves children but is urging future brides to opt for a child-free wedding.

‘If the bride is considering the idea of having a child-free wedding, they should – even if they love children.

‘I love all my nieces and nephews and I’ve worked with kids before but no matter if you like kids or not, it’s about whether you trust your guests to step outside.

‘You’d expect that people would follow basic wedding etiquette but you can’t predict everyone’s reactions.

‘Everyone always says their kids will behave, but you’ll be thankful you said yes to a child-free wedding.

‘A lot of people are pressured by family members but I don’t think it’s rude to have one.

‘It’s a decision for the groom and bride to make without pressure.’

Posting the video on social media, the bride captioned the clip: ‘When a guest refuses to take their screaming child out of your wedding ceremony because they drove 10 hours to see it’.

Several flocked to the comment to lament their frustration having seen the disturbance caught on camera.

One commented: ‘This confirms why our wedding is child free.’

Another said: ‘it’s social etiquette to remove yourself with a child if it’s causing a disturbance.’

A third added: ‘Are people not embarrassed anymore?’

However, one said: ‘I don’t care whose wedding it is, if I drive ten hours I’m sitting there with a bag of popcorn watching it. Screaming kids and all..’
