  • Curious creature walked up a neighbour’s driveway and stood on welcome mat

A pet emu went on the run after escaping from his home in a village called Loose.

The emu, named Rodney, went noseying around in a neighbour’s driveway and even walked up to their front door only to be captured on doorbell footage.

Police were alerted to the bird’s escape in the Kent village near Maidstone around midday on Saturday.

Maureen Roberts, 81, said she received a ring doorbell notification that someone was at the door while out at lunch with her daughter.

Her neighbour then phoned to say that an escaped emu had wandered up to the doorway.
