Lorraine Kelly recently left viewers stunned when she made a savage swipe at ITV colleague Richard Madeley while hosting BBC quiz show Have I Got News For You.
The chirpy Scottish presenter, 64, made the quip while humorous news clips played on the show, with Lorraine reading on the autocue: ‘In other news, Rachel Reeves has been accused of lying on her CV.
‘But we’ve all done that, haven’t we, for work purposes. For years I’ve claimed to be friends with Richard Madeley.’
The harsh remark may come as a shock to some seeing as Lorraine is known for her very friendly persona and warm, welcoming smiles – especially on her eponymous daytime chat show.
However, it hasn’t always been sweetness and light from Lorraine, with the Glasgow-born presenter having showcased her feisty side when expressing her dislike for someone.
From an expletive-laden rant at Rita Ora, to a long-running feud with a former GMTV colleague, MailOnline takes a look at Lorraine’s past run-ins with celebrities.

Rita Ora and Kay Burley
Back in 2020, Lorraine took aim at Rita Ora and Kay Burley who brazenly flouted the COVID-19 lockdown during in her expletive-laden version of the Queen’s Christmas message.
The usually mild-mannered presenter stepped in to host The Last Leg, and brazenly claimed that stars who had broken the rules could ‘go f**k themselves,’ as she wished the nation a Merry Christmas.
Rita was forced to apologise in November that year after it emerged she’d thrown a star-studded party with 30 friends to celebrate her 30th birthday at a London restaurant, despite the rest of England being in a strict lockdown.
Meanwhile Sky News presenter Kay was suspended from the channel for six months after it emerged she’d thrown a party to celebrate her 60th birthday which broke tier 2 rules, which ban different households from mixing indoors.

As the so-called ‘Queen of Daytime TV’, she delivered her version of the annual Christmas message, and quickly took the chance to blast stars such as Rita and Kay who broke the rules.
She began: ‘Well as we come to the end of what’s been a troubled year, not so much Annus horribilis but more of an annus s**t stormas.
‘With rows over Brexit, coronavirus, Dundee United losing to Livingstone 2-0 last week, we’re reminded more than ever of what’s important, friends and family, and Christmas is a time to celebrate both.’
Poking fun at usual host Adam Hills’ lengthy isolation in a Melbourne hotel, Lorraine added: ‘Whether it’s social distancing, wearing masks, shielding, or flying to the other side of the world to spend 2 weeks in a five star hotel with 24 hour room service, w**king yourself stupid let’s do it together.
She concluded: ‘So to all of us who sacrificed so much this year, I wish you a very happy Christmas and a prosperous 2021, unless of course you are a celebrity who broke the rules of lockdown, in that case you can go f**k yourself!’
Lorraine’s use of the F bomb sparked a cheer from the show’s crew, while presenters were stunned to see the host use such strong language.
Esther McVey
Lorraine has had a long-running feud with MP Esther, which stems back from when they both worked on the now defunct morning show GMTV, with it being said that Esther had claimed she’d been promoted above Lorraine.
Lorraine said back in 2019 that she is ‘baffled’ by any suggestion McVey was chosen to host GMTV alongside Eamonn Holmes above her as she had her own show.

‘Maybe she wants to go into politics’: Esther McVey fires back at Lorraine Kelly AGAIN by hinting former GMTV ‘rival’ may be jealous of her – as pair’s feud enters a third day
Esther was criticised in May of that year when she said parents should be free to withdraw their child from lessons at school where they are taught about LGBT relationships.
Lorraine disputed the Tory leadership hopeful’s claims that their awkward TV exchange the day before was down to her getting to co-host GMTV with Eamonn Holmes in the 1990s.
She said she cannot remember ever interacting with the politician because lots of people were put in the same dressing room – while she had a separate show.
The daytime TV star shook her head and looked shocked as she watched a clip of the Tory leadership hopeful telling a press conference that the pair used to share a dressing room.
She said: ‘There is no battle! I’m baffled [by what McVey said]. I have had my own show since 1992 and I don’t think she joined until five years later.
‘As far as dressing rooms go… It was just a little room that everyone shared and we got ready in. It wasn’t a dressing room with couches – it wasn’t palatial at all.’
Prodding her further, Lorraine said, exasperated: ‘I’ll be genuinely honest with you, I don’t remember, It was such a long time ago. I had my own show so there was no interaction.
‘Yesterday I just got sick to the back teeth of the whole toxic political atmosphere and I thought I’ve had enough of this. I strongly disagree with her on LGBT rights.
‘And they’ve been going round in circles on Brexit for two years and it’s got to stop.’
Kevin Spacey

Lorraine has in the past named Kevin Spacey as one of the worst celebrities she has ever interviewed.
Speaking ahead of his much-publicised court case in which he was accused of sexual assault against four men, Lorraine made her thoughts clear on the actor as she branded him an ‘a**e’.
She told You magazine: ‘The worst was Kevin Spacey. This was before the scandal. The interview was about his series House Of Cards, which I loved.
‘Isn’t it disappointing when you meet somebody whose work you really admire and you think, ‘He’s being an a***?’
‘He didn’t want to be there. One word answers. Snapping at people. You think, ‘Och, don’t do that’.’
