Bargain Hunt auctioneer Charles Hanson has appeared in court after allegedly assaulting his estranged wife in a series of attacks.
The 46-year-old has been accused of controlling and coercive behaviour and assaulting his wife, Rebecca Hanson, following his arrest in June last year.
The Bargain Hunt and Flog It! star was charged with a number of offences between December 2015, and June 2023.
They include one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault by beating and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
Hanson previously pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing on February 7 this year.
He appeared over a video link into Derby Crown Court for a short hearing today, ahead of his trial which is expected to take place on February 10, 2025.
Hanson was previously handed bail on the condition that he lives and sleeps each night at his parents’ address in Ashbourne Road, Mackworth, and does not contact his wife directly or indirectly.
Hanson rose to stardom after appearing on BBC’s Bargain Hunt in 2002 before going on to launch his own auctioneering business – Hansons Auctioneers – in 2005.

The court was told how his defence team had written to the Crown Prosecution Service requesting further information ahead of his trial on February 10, 2025, with a time estimate of seven to 10 days.
Judge Shaun Smith KC told this week’s hearing that ‘all of the requests the defence has made are reasonable’ and he has given the prosecution until 4pm on Wednesday, December 11, to answer them ahead of another short mention hearing on Thursday, December 12.
He told the defendant: ‘Mr Hanson you do not need to come to next week’s hearing. I will make sure the defence have all the information they require but if you wish to attend you may.’
Hanson is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm between May 13 and 17, 2020, at a property on Church Road, Quarndon, Derby.
He is also accused of controlling or coercive behaviour between 2015 and 2023 and two counts of assault by beating in 2022 and 2023. All the charges relate to his wife Rebecca.
Hanson was arrested after police were called to reports of a domestic incident at a property in Quarndon in June, 2023.
A spokesperson from Derbyshire police said at the time: ‘The force was called to reports of a domestic incident at an address in Church Road, Quarndon, in June.
‘A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of assault and was released on police bail while enquiries continued.’

Hanson was released on bail with conditions not to go to the family home in Quarndon or to contact his wife.
Hanson rose to stardom after he qualified as a surveyor in 1999, joining Christie’s ceramics and glass department shortly after.
He made his first appearance on BBC’s Bargain Hunt in 2002, becoming the show’s youngest expert at the age of 25.
In 2005, he established his own auctioneering business near Etwall in Derbyshire, subsequently launching Hansons London in 2018.
He has also regularly appeared on shows such as Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.
