An American base jumper has plunged 3,000 feet to his death from a ‘cursed’ Italian mountain where others have perished before.
It is thought that David Kimball, 33, fell after his parachute failed to open properly.
He jumped off the treacherous Piani dei Resinelli mountains above Abbadia Lariana, Lombardy on Tuesday.
He was found dead in the wooded area below the launch area shortly after the jump at 1.30pm, local outlet Il Giorno reports.
Police, fire crews and mountain rescue teams raced to the remote scene.

They have been investigating exactly what happened since.
It comes after Alessandro Fiorito, from Gallarate, died in the same spot after his wing suit experienced a technical problem and he plummeted 300 feet to his death.
The 62-year-old attempted was sent spiraling to the ground and attempted to release his parachute but was too late to do so.
Meanwhile, Italian father Ludovico Vanoli, 41, also lost his life in a wingsuit accident.
The experienced base jumper Montichiari, Brescia, died during a jump in the Dolomites.
Just days before that, Raian Kamel, 36, was killed after jumping from Piz da Lech in Val Badia.
A British base also became the fourth person to die this summer while leaping from a cliff edge in the Italian Dolomites.

The victim, 33, was fatally injured after he leapt from the mountain side wearing a wing suit.
Two others who had jumped ahead of him – a Frenchman and a German – raised the alarm after he failed to join them at the scheduled landing site.
