British champion boxer Callum Simpson has paid tribute to his teenage sister Lily-Rae as he revealed she has died in a crash on the Greek holiday island of Zante.

He posted online a heartfelt message about the tragic 19-year-old, saying: ‘Absolutely heartbroken to say that my beautiful little sister, Lily-Rae, was in a road accident while on holiday in Zante.

‘She was flown to Athens and spent 10 days in ICU, but despite the best efforts of the medical teams, Lily sadly passed away.’

Callum, a 27-year-old British, Commonwealth and WBA continental champion super-middleweight boxer from Barnsley, shared photographs and a video of the siblings together, on X, formerly Twitter.

He added: ‘Even though she used to ring me to complain about being referred to as “Callum Simpson’s sister”, I know she loved the hype.

He described her as ‘my beautiful little sister’. 

The photos he posted included one of Lily-Rae helping celebrate his victory over Zak Chelli on August 3 at Barnsley’s Oakwell football stadium, which clinched Simpson the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles. 

Lily-Rae was taken to the Greek capital Athens in an air ambulance and given emergency treatment but died from her injuries on August 21, it has been revealed. 

Further tributes paid to her in response to Callum’s social media posts included a friend saying: ‘Lily was the most beautiful, funniest, kind hearted girl that would do anything for anyone!’

Others wrote messages including ‘So sorry for your loss Callum such a beautiful girl’, ‘Lily was such a lovely friend’ and ‘Such a beautiful young lady, taken well before her time’.
