A ‘British conwoman’ has allegedly made off with €400,000 after duping a Turkish estate agent and swapping an envelope filled with cash.
The suspected thief, known only as Florentina G., is said to have executed the scam in Istanbul on July 3 by faking an interest in a luxurious apartment worth €4million in the city.
It is believed that she told the estate agent she wanted to buy the property on behalf of her company and suggested increasing the price from €3.2million to €4million so the two of them could split an €800,000 commission.
It is said that he agreed, but she claimed before they could finalised the deal she needed to check he had enough money to pay her, her half of the commission once the sale had gone through.
But when at his office she is suspected of secretly switching the envelope containing €400,000 in cash, for an envelope of Iranian rials worth only $5,000.

Florentina and her alleged accomplice are understood to have flown in from London on the morning of July 3 for the meeting, which she attended alone
The estate agent claimed the woman first called him with an offer that her company would ‘arrange the sale’ of the property but first she needed to check that he had enough money to be able to split the commission.
Florentina and her alleged accomplice are understood to have flown in from London on the morning of July 3 for the meeting, which she attended alone.
When at the agent’s office, she asked to check his half on the money, which he had in cash in an envelope, after examining it she allegedly put it into her purse.
He claimed he protested saying, ‘you will get the commission when the sale is completed’, and that she did not argue and removed the envelope from her bag and handed it back to him.

Her partner (pictured) was later caught on route to Berlin with $15,000. She had boarded a flight to Paris and successfully managed to get out of the country
However, it is during this moment that she is suspected of secretly switching his money for Iranian rials worth only $5,000 and pocketing his 400,000 euros.
When he later checked the envelope and realised that he no longer had the cash, he alerted the police.
The police launched a swift investigation where they said they discovered she had gone to the local shopping centre to change her appearance by buying new clothes.
Before meeting back up with her alleged accomplice and heading to the airport.
Her partner was later caught by the authorities on route to Berlin with $15,000 cash on him. He told the police he did not know the suspect and that the money on him was his.
Florentina however allegedly managed to board a flight to Paris and successfully leave the country.
The Istanbul Police have been approached for comment.
