For most ‘Big Foot’ is a hairy mythical creature who remains in the realm of their childhood fantasy.
But a terrified camper claims he was left cowering in his tent after being woken up by the 15-foot sasquatch.
Troy Olivadoti was solo-camping in Oregon’s Rogue National Forest, infamous for Sasquatch sightings when he was awoken by a strange sound at 11.50pm.
He said he heard something running less than 100 yards behind his tent and initially thought it was an ‘elk’.
However, after listening to the creature cover vast amounts of land concluded that a man would have been unable to do so.
Sharing his encounter with Big Foot hunters, Olivadoti said: ‘I’ve heard elk running through the forest before, so I wasn’t alarmed.
‘I did wonder what would cause the elk to run headlong through the forest at night. I thought possibly a predator, likely a cougar.
‘Then about two minutes later, from the same direction as the elk, I heard three distinct percussive sounds that sounded like wood on wood.

‘This is something I’ve never heard before, so it caught my attention. At this point, I was listening closely.’
Olivadoti, who has camped numerous times in the same area, 13 miles east of Butte Falls, added: ‘Roughly a minute later, I heard three more identical knocks, but they were farther away.
‘Another minute passed and further off in the distance, I heard another three knocks in the same pattern as the first and second set.
‘And finally about another minute later, I heard one more set of identical knocks on the edge of my hearing.
‘It seemed like the same animal was making the sounds, moving away from my location, and likely following the path of the elk.
‘At the time I was struck by how fast the creature was moving away from me.
‘I had been up in that area earlier in the day and it was an old clear cut that was a tangled mess of branches and brambles – it was tough going.

‘A man couldn’t have covered that much ground, in pitch black darkness, that fast, in a tangled mess of a clear cut. It was the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced.’
Olivadoti submitted his sighting to The Big Foot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), founded in 1995.
The group collects witness reports and physical evidence to try and prove that Big Foot exists.
The BFRO categorised Olivadoti’s report as a ‘Class B’ case, meaning it was credible but had a lack of corroborating evidence.
Olivadoti’s sighting was in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, home to the world’s only Big Foot ‘trap’.
