Cary Grant’s ex-wife Dyan Cannon made a rare public appearance as she attended a basketball game in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The 88-year-old actress wore a glamorous ensemble as she watched the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans at the Crypto Arena.

She donned a stylish dress and a puffed shoulder jacket, featuring white frills around the neckline and sleeve hems.

Dyan added a pair of tights and heeled knee-high boots while toting around her belongings in a small shoulder bag.

She wore her blonde locks in a voluminous, wavy style and added a glam palette of makeup to complete her look.

Cary and Dyan tied the knot in 1965 when she was at the start of her career, and Grant in the height of his. The North By Northwest actor was 61 at the time of the marriage, and Dyan 33 years his junior at 28-years-old.

The following year, their daughter – and Cary’s only child – was born, but the pair split in 1968 when their divorce was finalised.

By the time Cary met Dyan Cannon, he had already racked up an immense list of acting credits and cemented himself as the one of Hollywood’s top leading men – but he had also earned a reputation as a notorious player. 

It was only natural that Dyan and Cary became Hollywood’s ‘it’ couple practically overnight – paparazzi followed them everywhere they went and the media covered their every move. 

On the outside, it looked as though the acclaimed actor had finally found love, but behind the scenes, Dyan later claimed that their marriage was plagued by explosive fights.

She laid bare the horrendous details of their torrid relationship in an explosive tell-all memoir back in 2011, which was then turned into an ITV show called Archie.

Starring Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs as Grant, and Gavin and Stacey actress Laura Aikman as Cannon, the four-part series intersperses scenes from Grant’s tragic childhood – his birth name was Archibald Leach – with episodes from his later life.

While Dyan and Cary ultimately split fter only three years of marriage, there was one thing that resulted from their relationship that ultimately changed Cary forever – the birth of their daughter, Jennifer. 

They welcomed the baby girl together in 1966, and becoming a father inspired Cary to turn over a new leaf. 

He decided to quit acting to put his focus on raising her full time, leaving his wild ways behind and transforming himself into a devoted family man instead.

Now, Dyan largely keeps out of the spotlight, but in 2023, revealed that she is ‘living now’ while also attributing prayer to keeping her ‘straight’ in life.

She told Page Six: ‘Praying, that’s what keeps me straight,’ the stat told the outlet, adding, ‘I’m a big God girl.’

‘After some of the things I’ve been through, I couldn’t make sense out of the world, so I had to go to something that did make sense.’

She stated that she, ‘realised’ and also understood that ‘there really is something bigger than me that protects me and guides me and nourishes me and I believe that.’

‘I’m living now,’ Dyan admitted. ‘I just came to understand that there is something bigger than me that I can trust because I can’t trust a lot of what is out there because it changes its mind all the time.’

The actress also discussed how she still remains fit and active as she prepared to celebrate her 87th birthday.

‘I’ve come to a place in my life where I can eat anything but I do work out. I try and do something at least three or four times a week.’
