Chilling CCTV footage has emerged during the hunt for ‘vigilante vandals’ who slashed the tyres of dozens of cars in a leafy Surrey village during a row over out-of-towners visiting for a Bonfire Night display.

MailOnline has exclusively obtained doorbell footage showing two men lurking around some cars on the night that the tyres of 32 vehicles were slashed in Brockham on November 4.

The incident took place amid a furious row over Londoners ‘blocking’ driveways and ‘littering’ while visiting the village for its popular firework display.

Photographs show the cars parked in the village with tyres punctured during a bonfire event. Residents speculated that the vehicles were targeted by infuriated and fed-up locals.

Police are studying CCTV footage and are asking residents to check their camera systems to see if they have unwittingly caught the perpetrators red handed.  The damage happened on Tynedale Road, Middle Street, Boxhill Way, Tweed Lane and Glenfield Road between 6.55pm and 9.30pm.

Posting on Facebook, one resident said: ‘This bonfire has just got out of control, it should be (limited) tickets only, it makes local residents sick of items being stolen from their front gardens, parking over drives, emptying cans of beer, noise.’

Deena Morris, who lives in Brockham said: ‘It gets crazier and crazier each year. People are furious that there is no proper policing of the parking situation for visitors who travel to see the fireworks.

‘This year I’ve heard people have travelled hours to come and see the bonfire as it’s such a good display. People regularly come from Croydon and south London around an hour away.’

Richard Taylor, 66, said: ‘It does get very congested and I think someone has just lost the plot and gone wild. It’s got out of hand.

‘Organisers do provide parking but this year it was £10 a car and some people don’t want to pay that so they just park anywhere they like.

‘There have been altercations of visitors coming back to their cars and being confronted by angry homeowners whose drive they were blocking.’

In a Facebook row, one person suggested locals were the culprits of the tyre slashing, after one anonymous user complained about visitors parking over their driveways.

The post said: ‘Was it you angry anonymous of Brockham who wandered past my house and slashed us in temper then?!? Man up and introduce yourself.’

Commander James Green of Surrey Police said: ‘We have been made aware of 32 reports and are progressing with enquiries.

‘Local officers were in the area at the time and responded immediately to reports, my team have also been out in the local area speaking with residents but we are urging anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage between the times of 6.55pm and 9.30pm to contact us.’
