This is the chilling moment a takeaway driver was arrested after viciously beating his disabled girlfriend before leaving her to die, as he told police ‘I know it is not good’.

Huseyin Kalyoncu, 34, has been jailed for life with a minimum of 19 years after he viciously punched, kicked and stamped on Sonia Parker, 51, in May.

Jurors heard the victim was left unconscious and dying on the living room floor of their home in Edenbridge, Kent, after he struck her with extreme force in a row over her use of WhatsApp.

Paramedics attempted to revive her at the scene, but she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards as a result of 69 injuries.

These included internal bruising, damage to her liver, and multiple bone fractures across her body – while Kalyoncu told 999 he just ‘hit her a little’.

Kalyoncu later admitted that in the days before the sustained attack he had previously assaulted her out of jealousy over her social media use.

The Turkish-Cypriot thug also told police at the scene that he had been ‘fighting and punching’ the mother-of-two, before adding: ‘Actually, I am jealous of her.

‘We are fighting before and I say to her ‘Don’t text anyone’ and I lost control.’

Footage from his arrest shows Kalyoncu telling officers ‘I know it is not good’, but it was not until he was in custody that he learnt Ms Parker had died.

He was remanded in custody before appearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 13 June 2024, where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but denied murdering Ms Parker.

Jurors later ruled unanimously that Kalyoncu had murdered her.

Kalyoncu, who came to the UK five years ago from Cyprus, met bus garage cleaner Ms Parker at Ozzy’s takeaway where she also worked as a delivery driver.

She was described by her sister, Angelica Tsesmelis, as ‘friendly and super kind’, as well as a ‘grafter’ who worked despite her disabilities which had been caused by lack of oxygen at birth, a cyst on her brain, and a serious car crash last year.

At Maidstone Crown Court on December 11, Kalyoncu was told he must serve at least 19 years in prison before he will be considered for parole.

The court also heard that Ms Parker was being exploited financially and had spent thousands on her partner during their relationship.

In a moving victim impact statement written on behalf of Ms Parker’s family Ms Tsesmelis said: ‘Sonia’s death has had a devastating effect on myself and my family both mentally and emotionally.

‘I fail to understand why anyone would want to do this to my sister, especially in the way he tortured her in the lead up to her death, and that in a short space of time he built up so much hate and anger that he killed her.

‘He treated her like an animal, not someone he was in the honeymoon phase of a relationship with.’

After sentencing, investigating officer Det Supt Kathleen Way, of Kent Police, said: ‘Kalyoncu killed the woman he allegedly loved after subjecting her to a sustained campaign of physical abuse in the weeks leading up to her death.

‘In denying his part in the murder of Ms Parker, Kalyoncu has subsequently forced the victim’s family and friends to relive their loss over and over again during the court trial.

‘His inability to control his temper and abhorrent behaviour means he will now serve a minimum of 19 years’ imprisonment before he will even be considered for parole.

‘I hope his lengthy custodial sentence provides Sonia’s family and friends with some comfort and that the conclusion of the trial will give them time to grieve their loved one.’
