Coleen Rooney discussed her two heartbreaking miscarriages and the meaning behind her children’s names during I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Friday.

In camp, Oti Mabue and GK Barry sat down with Coleen, 38, to talk about the origins of her kids’ names: Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass.

Explaining the reason behind not having all of the names begin with a letter K, she revealed: ‘I looked up the meaning of the name Cassius and with a K it meant blackbird, and with a C it meant clever.’

Deciding on Cassius, they then chose Mac for his middle name given her maiden name was McLoughlin, and her friends used to nickname her Coleen Mac.

As Coleen’s middle name was Mary, this then meant Cass would have the same initials as her, CMR.

She also shared that Cass Mac Rooney meant ‘clever son of Rooney, that’s the meaning. CMR. That’s the only connection I’ve got to the kids!’

Speaking about having four boys, Coleen admitted: ‘I would’ve liked a girl for Wayne, I wasn’t desperate, he would’ve liked a girl, I wasn’t bothered either way.’

She went on to explain: ‘I’ve had two miscarriages and I don’t know whether that has been girls, you know sometimes they say you can’t carry a certain sex, but they don’t investigate until you have your third one.’

Coleen told Oti and GK how she had her first miscarriage before she had any children, with the second miscarriage coming before she had Kit and Cass.

She admitted: ‘When I had the first one I was really scared…but then once I had a child, it took that away, I went on to have another one.

‘It’s not a nice feeling for anyone, it’s horrible but knowing that I could conceive and have the child, that made me feel better.’

Speaking of Wayne, she said: ‘I feel for the men in this situation…Wayne really felt it the first time round and it wasn’t until later on that I thought, ”Do you know what, everyone’s fussing around me, but not him and he had to just get up and go to work as normal”, it’s quite hard.’

Oti agreed: ‘It’s such a precious time but a scary time as well.’

Last week, in another candid camp moment Coleen broke down in tears as she opened up about the death of her little sister Rosie.

The WAG spoke to her campmates about her late sibling, who tragically passed away in 2013 aged 14 after a lifelong battle with Rett syndrome, a rare brain disorder that causes severe disabilities.

The emotional conversation began when Coleen’s campmate, boxer Barry McGuigan, 63, broke down as he spoke about his late daughter Danika who lost her battle with cancer in 2019 aged 33.

WHAT IS RETT SYNDROME?

One child in 12,000 is born with Rett Syndrome, yet few people have heard of it.

The genetic disorder affects almost exclusively females, causing them to regress neurologically and physically.

The progression of the disease can be roughly divided into four stages.

During the first stage, from about the age of six to 18 months, a baby slows in development, loses interest in play, stops making eye contact, starts walking awkwardly and makes repetitive hand movements.

The second stage, known as ‘rapid destruction’, begins between the ages of one and four.

The child finds it increasingly difficult to communicate and learn and there is often a deterioration in other brain functions.

Symptoms include an inability to control the hands, sudden distress teamed with screaming, unsteadiness, breathing problems, difficulty sleeping, slow head growth and digestive problems.

The third stage, the ‘plateau’, begins between age three and ten.

Coleen then confided in Dean and Oti saying: ‘Even when Rosie died, I kept it together for me mum and dad.’

Revealing the anniversary of Rosie’s death would be coming up in January she said:  ‘She was 14 when she died, she’d be 26 now. It’s hard to lose a child, I’ve always said that… so we’re lucky to have what we’ve got.’

Meanwhile Barry told the camp: ‘[Danika] had leukaemia, when I was making the boxing with Daniel Day Lewis, three weeks from the end I had to leave because she’d been diagnosed with leukaemia, they thought she wasn’t going to get better but she fought back and she won it. She had two years of chemo.’

As he began to guy campmates gathered around with Danny Jones and Tulisa offering a hug, as Barry gushed:  ‘Thank you, you’re all so lovely, I really appreciate it.’

Later going to tell Loose Women’s Jane Moore about Danika’s second and final bout with cancer: ‘She had pains in her tummy but she was making the movie, she put it off and went to the doctor, called us all in. Stage 4 bowel cancer, 5 weeks, 5 weeks she died.’

Coleen has also given a rare insight into her 16-year marriage with husband Wayne, admitting he has ‘made mistakes’.

She spoke about going against the public, who had urged her to divorce the footballer, 39, after his infidelities’ emerged.

Coleen confided in campmate Oti Mabuse why she and Wayne have remained together and said while ‘it has been difficult, we’re happy now, after all those years… we’re a team.’

The conversation turned to their turbulent marriage when talking about Wayne’s footballing career.

Coleen said: ‘All he wanted to do was play football, he struggled with the fame side of it, he hated that. If he could’ve just played football and had none of the fame I think he would’ve been happier within life.’

‘He’s made mistakes along the way, but from 16, obviously you’re going to, that’s life.’

Explaining they got married young at 22, and engaged at 17/18, Coleen admitted because of that, ‘We felt older, because we had to grow up quick, because we were living in the public eye.’

‘Since the first mistake he’s made, that’s been in the public, people have not forgiven. When things have happened the public have wanted it to just go oh, split, you know, that’s it, split them up. But the fact is, there’s always been love still there.’

Coleen and Wayne tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Italy in 2008, with the big day said to have cost an estimated £5m.

Before they married in a stunning ceremony in the village of Portofino on the Italian Riviera in 2008, Wayne admitted sleeping with prostitutes after being caught on CCTV at a backstreet Liverpool brothel.

In 2017, Wayne was caught driving Cheshire-based estate agent Laura Simpson’s car while over the drink-drive limit. But Coleen has stood by him through all of it.

‘It has been difficult, but we’re happy now, after all those years… we’re a team,’ she said.

Speaking to GK Barry later on, she revealed: ‘Wayne’s always wrote me poems.’ Shocked, GK asked: ‘Wayne Rooney?’

Coleen said: ‘You know the hotel pads? He was always writing a little poem and putting it in his bag and he’d give it to me when we got home.’

‘They’re nice to keep but I can’t remember the last time he gave me one…’

GK joked: ‘Well you might have one coming up: Roses are red, jungle is green, you’re my love, Coleen.’

Reflecting in the Bush Telegraph, Coleen said: ‘He is romantic in ways, we’re not the lovey dovey couple in public but little things like that I think it keeps the relationship alive and it’s special when someone’s done something just for you, and the words mean something.’

Coleen’s two youngest sons have flown out to Australia with the I’m A Celebrity star’s parents, ready for an emotional reunion with their mum.

The star’s parents have said they are ‘very excited’ to see their daughter in the I’m A Celebrity jungle as they flew out to Australia.

Colette and Tony McLoughlin arrived at Manchester Airport with their grandchildren Kit and Cass, at 10am on Tuesday to catch an Emirates flight to Brisbane where they will greet their only daughter when she leaves the show.

And the WAG’s parents said they thought she might win the hit ITV1 show.

Her mother Colette said: ‘We are very proud of her. She is doing very well. We are all very excited to see her.’

Asked if she might win the jungle crown, smiling Colette, 61, who was dressed in a jungle-esque khaki two piece outfit, said: ‘She’s got a chance’.

Her father Tony added: ‘She’s doing pretty well, we are all very proud of how she’s doing.

‘She’s doing alright and is coming across really well. You never know she might win.

‘We’ve got a long flight now to see her.’
