Dua Lipa was among the show-stopping British and Irish arrivals for the 2025 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit Gala on Monday.

The singer, 29, commanded attention in an eye-catching black mini dress with a feathered skirt and a sheer underlay from Chanel as she joined a slew of big names on the blue carpet, which kicks off the museum’s annual spring exhibition.

Flaunting every inch of her endless pins, Dua slipped into a plunging blazer dress with beaded detailing.

The hitmaker was joined by her fiancé Callum Turner, who put on a sharp display in a black double-breasted suit as they made their red carpet debut together.

Embodying the theme of the night, The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood slipped into a cropped blazer with a matching shirt and tie that showed off her endless pins.

Teaming her outfit with quirky floral heels, the British actress was joined by her co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger. 

Jodie Turner-Smith certainly caught the eye in head-to-toe red leather from Burberry, consisting of a crocodile leather coat, a busty jumpsuit and a matching hat. 

Model Suki Waterhouse was also among the glamorous names in attendance, and she flaunted her famous figure in a funky take on the tailoring theme.

She slipped into a plunging black waistcoat and a thigh-split skirt with a structured train, as she posed solo on the blue carpet. 

Cynthia Erivo looked every inch the Hollywood showstopper in a sparkling beaded bodysuit with a voluminous skirt from Givenchy.

The Wicked star showed off her legs in the stunning gown ahead of reprising her role as Elphaba later this year.

Lewis Hamilton, one of the co-chairs of the event, put on a dapper display in a sharp white suit and a matching beret, custom-made by Wales Bonner.

The Formula One star was dressed in a sharp white look adorned with boucle detailing, teamed with a matching beret with gold embellishment. 

After relocating back to the UK last year, James Corden made a return to the US for this year’s Met Gala, alongside his wife Julia Carey. 

Julia put on a chic display in a plunging white trouser suit with woven detailing, that boasted a flowing cape. 

Channelling his upcoming cinema alter-ego Ringo Starr, Barry Keoghan showed off his snazzy look which consisted of a black embroidered miltary jacket, with a matching red belt.

The Saltburn star risked a run-in with his ex Sabrina Carpenter as he made his way into the gala. 

Deemed the Oscars of the East Coast, the Met Gala sees some of the biggest stars descend on the iconic The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the annual charity event.

Teyana Taylor, La La Anthony and Ego Nwodim hosted the Vogue livestream, with Emma Chamberlain tasked with doing interviews on the blue carpet.

This year’s is also the first Met Gala in more than 20 years to have a menswear theme, with the focus being Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

This gala is also being hosted by a group of Black male celebrities, including Williams, the musical artist and Louis Vuitton menswear director, and Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, and A$AP Rocky named as co-chairs.

LeBron James, who was named an honorary chair, previously announced that he will miss the gala due to the knee injury he suffered in the Lakers’ season-ending loss to the Timberwolves during Game 5 of their first-round playoff series last Wednesday. 

As this year’s honorary chair, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer shared that his wife, Savannah James, will attend in his place.

‘Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on!’ James, 40, wrote on X, just hours before the Met Gala red carpet event.

They’re joined by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, the mastermind behind the gala, considered the year’s biggest and starriest party.

While the co-chairs were already announced, the leaked list has only fueled the hype.

The A-list lineup is packed with stars like Rihanna, Sydney Sweeney, Hailey Bieber, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Cynthia Erivo. 

Bad Bunny, Donatella Versace, Vera Wang, Usher, Kerry Washington, Jeremy Allen White, and Suki Waterhouse are also on the guest list. 

It’s shaping up to be a night packed with Hollywood’s biggest names — though some fans were surprised to see a few notable absences.

The gala raises the bulk of the curation budget for the museum´s Costume Institute.

This year, it’s about tailoring and suiting as interpreted through the history and meaning of Black dandyism across the Atlantic diaspora. 

The theme is inspired by the annual spring exhibition, which this year is based in large part on Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, a book written by Monica L. Miller. She is guest curator of the exhibit.

‘Historical manifestations of dandyism range from absolute precision in dress and tailoring to flamboyance and fabulousness in dress and style,’ Miller writes in the exhibit catalog. 

‘Whether a dandy is subtle or spectacular, we recognize and respect the deliberateness of the dress, the self-conscious display, the reach for tailored perfection, and the sometimes subversive self-expression.’

How the dress code goes, in terms of taste and style, is anyone’s guess. Wintour has a hand in virtually all things gala, so the presumption is things can’t go too far off the rails. 

She recently knocked down the rumour that she approves all looks, telling Good Morning America she’ll only weigh in if asked. 

Just days before the fundraiser, Sarah Jessica Parker, left fans stunned as she, sadly, confirmed she would not be attending due to a scheduling conflict. 

‘I have to work,’ the Sex and The City star told Entertainment Tonight. ‘But there’s going to be so much to see, and I look forward to seeing what everybody does and how they interpret the theme and the homework they did for the assignment. A very joyful assignment.’ 

While speaking about fashion’s biggest night, the Golden Globe winner continued: ‘I care a lot about it and I want to try to honor the work of the curators and everybody who sort of inspired this moment for those of us who get to attend.’

Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz are also among the newly released names of celebrities opting to skip the highly exclusive, annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. 

On Monday, a source revealed to The Sun that Brooklyn had planned on father David Beckham’s 50th birthday bash instead of the Met Gala. 

The couple, however, were noticeably no-shows at David’s London celebration on Saturday, with the reason behind their fallout revealed here by Mail+. 

And despite a string of showstopping looks, Jennifer Lopez is also set to skip this year’s gala, with DailyMail.com learning that the star will be busy working on her new film Office Romance.

The Sun reported that Brooklyn felt to uncomfortable to go amid rumors that Nicola was being blamed for a rift with his family. 

‘They cancelled plans to attend the Met because they really intended to be at David’s party on Saturday,’ the insider said. 

The exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, draws on other sources beyond Miller’s book. It’s organised into 12 sections. 

Each symbolises a characteristic of dandy style as defined by Zora Neale Hurston in her 1934 essay, Characteristics of Negro Expression.

The guest list amounts to about 450 high-profile people from tech, sports, art, entertainment and more.
