The hit TV show Supernanny captivated the nation from 2004 to 2008, as no nonsense nanny Jo Frost headed into the homes of Britain’s naughtiest children to teach some serious discipline.

The London-born disciplinarian, who catapulted to fame with the Channel 4 show,   taught ultra strict parenting in the show that saw her travel across the UK – and later for a spin-off in the US.

But the children are now fully-grown adults. So where are the kids that were once considered the worst in the UK now?

Here FEMAIL takes a look at the very different paths of the children – from becoming TikTok stars and teachers – and in once case and convicted criminal.

Meghann Cooke, now 28: Shows biggest brat became a teacher and  TikTok star (with her own perfectly behaved child!)

Meghann Cooke, who first appeared on the hit show in 2005, has since become a viral sensation on TikTok – an app that didn’t even exist at the time – with many making memes of her exceptionally headstrong attitude and rude hits at Supernanny, Jo.

During her appearance on the show 19 years ago, Meghann – who was nine years old at the time – made a name for herself as one of the naughtiest children to ever appear on the programme.

On TikTok, Meghann Supernanny has more than 100 million views on the social media app.

One YouTuber even compared Meghann’s ‘bratty’ behaviour as comparable to the fictional character Verucca Salt, from Charlie and the Chocolate factory – also infamous for her behaviour

In one moment that is now viral on social media, Meghann, now 28, corrected Jo on her pronunciation of the word ‘unacceptable’, mercilessly mocking the nanny who angrily snapped back at her.

The challenging child – well aware of the presence of the cameras in her home – even told Jo it was ‘her show’ and therefore she ‘could do what [she] likes’, also referring to herself as ‘the director’.

Meghann was particularly savvy with words and in one instance turned to the camera to correct an accusation that she had pinched another child by declaring ‘I didn’t pinch her, I hit her!’

In a now deleted video, Meghann responded to the sea of memes online, by giving an explanation of her time on the show to TikTok viewers.

In a now deleted video, Meghann had said in the video that she didn’t think Jo had had an impact on the family.

Instead, she attributed the improvement in family dynamics to her family growing in closeness.

She explained: ‘Over a few years after Jo visited us, we grew up and the dynamic changed in our family and that made us behave better.’

In one jaw dropping moment in the 2005 show, Meghann even slapped Jo, though the now mother-of-one insisted the scene was not scripted explaining that she ‘lashed out a lot’ as a child.

Explaining some of the secrets of the set, she revealed that the ban on TV was really just a way of disguising that it couldn’t be on in the first place due to strict copyright.

‘We were used to getting ready in the morning, watching TV, getting our hair done, having our friends round. We weren’t allowed to watch the TV because, obviously, copyright reasons they can’t have the television on,’ she said.

Meghann also divulged that there were also strict rules on what they were allowed to wear, with a ban on any kind of branding.  She was one of three little girls in the Cooke family who were visited by Supernanny in 2005 – though the eldest sister was the cause for the call.

Now, she prefers to live outside the spotlight and has since deleted her popular video talking about her experience on Supernanny.

She is a mother to her own six-year-old son and the three sisters are all extremely close to their mother, the father having left a number of years earlier.

Though Meghann was a nuisance as a youngster, her sister Gabriella told FEMAIL her own son is miraculously well behaved.

‘Meghann is a good mum, and ironically her child is an angel. He is six now, he loves school, is very loving and well behaved, we are really blessed with him,’ she said.

Speaking to FEMAIL, one of the two younger sisters, Gabriella, share her experience on the Channel 4 show.

Gabriella and Erin Cooke have also taken to social media to acknowledge their own appearance on the show, when Jo came to visit the sister years after her run in with naughty Meghann.

Though the two were comparably angelic to their sister, Meghann, both also ended up spats with Jo Frost.

In one part of the show, an unresponsive Gabriella is banned from seeing any of her friends, only to hit back at Jo: ‘Oh, I don’t care cos I hate my friends’.

In a follow up part of the episode, Supernanny revisits the family who explain that nearly all their issues have resolved, with Meghann telling the camera she ‘gets on much better’ which her mum – who previously felt like a ‘punchbag’ to her daughter.

Remembering her time on the show, Gabriella told FEMAIL she doesn’t remember the camera people being in her house because they were naughty.

She said: ‘I don’t recall at the time thinking we were being filmed for being naughty, just that we had people around a lot with cameras.

‘We were all close to Jo, the camera crew and directors, they would play with us and do out hair and face paint off the camera.

When asked if she thought the show improved the girls behaviour, Gabriella wasn’t quite so sure

‘I wouldn’t say she did to be honest, there were cameras in every room of our house 24/7 for five weeks, I do think that any family could get some level of naughtiness captured with that level of invasiveness,’ she said.

Gabriella, who was six years old at the time, and Erin, who was four-years-old, both said they would never allow their own children on the show, though neither of them are parents just yet.

The pair both described TV shows of the era as ‘problematic’.

Now, 25-year-old, Gabriella is an interior designer living in London with some of her family.

She explained: ‘I still live at home with my mum and Erin at the moment, we are all very close and are very lucky that Meghann and her son only live 5 minutes away from us.

Erin, who is now 23, is a professional Irish dancer preforming in a show full time.

In 2021, the three girls posted a video on Gabriella’s TikTok account where they answered question they ‘get asked from being on supernanny’.

The first, directed at Gabriella, asked whether she still hated her friends, referencing the infamous moment on the show when she said that she wasn’t bothered about being banned from seeing them since she ‘hated’ them in any case.

The next question asked the three whether they get on as a trio of sisters, to which they answered, ‘we still argue sometimes’.

The third referenced Gabriella in particular with just the statement ‘It’s princess Gabby,’ from a moment in the show, to which she just said, ‘its me!’

Though clips from the family resurfaced during lockdown time, Gabriella confessed she doesn’t ‘really think anything of it [being on Supernanny] because I was so young and to be honest didn’t think about it for years.’

‘We would get people shout ‘Supernanny’ at us occasionally after it aired, but I don’t feel like it changed our life much like reality TV would today.

‘It’s more the nasty comments on social media that get to me now, when I see people saying things about my mum or how we are as people, when they don’t know us at all.’

Since the show aired, Denise, who is mother to the three girls, was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer and in 2017, learned that it had spread to her bones, making it incurable.

Gabriella explained: ‘My mum has secondary breast cancer which has effected her nerve endings in her spine and she cannot walk, so we all help out with caring for her. None of us have a relationship with our dad.’

Grace Tickle, who is now 18-years-old, was on Supernanny in 2010 aged five, during a Roadshow version of the show.

Grace, who at the time was very particular about her diet, was marched into Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock to take part in the Supernanny roadshow, in the hopes that her parents could cure her fussy eating.

In one clip from the episode, Grace’s mother can be seen telling her daughter they are eating fish fingers, mashed potato and peas for dinner.

In response, a defiant Grace can be heard saying: ‘But I hate fish fingers, mashed potato and peas!’ before bursting into tears.

As her parents introduce her to Jo, her parents complain that their daughter regularly refuses meals and will only eat snacks, describing her daughter as ‘very faddy’.

Her mother explained to Jo that Grace only eats things like cheese and chocolate chip cookies to which Jo tells her to ‘take her back a stage’ and refuse feeling her if she won’t take dinner.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Grace said being on the show had directly impacted her life, ‘but not in a good way’.

‘As a five year old, hearing the things she was saying petrified me and only made me resent and not eat the food my parents were giving me,’ she explained.

‘My parents were glad for the opportunity to take me on the show and speak with Jo Frost, however they were not so impressed with her advice.

‘She told my parents if I wasn’t to eat what I was given, not to give me anything else. She called it “fussy eating” which we also thought it was at the time.

‘Now looking back, we realise it was probably something more than just fussy eating..ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) which is actually an Eating Disorder, and Supernanny’s advice actually could have made this a lot worse if my parents were to take it on board.’

Fortunately, she doesn’t believe that the experience impacted her relationship with food, which grew gradually better as time went on.

Grace, who described herself as thriving 18-year-old with a ‘passion for languages and culture’ is not a much more adept eater.

The self-described ‘adventurous’ eater said that her improvement with food was  ‘definitely due to aging, not Supernanny.’

Grace also has a younger brother, Oscar, who is three and a half years her junior, and was just one when she went on the show.

She credits the improvement in her eating to herself and her parents, who have supported her throughout her life.

She said: ‘My relationship with my parents is and always has been amazing. Im grateful to have the parents that I do. They have helped me more than they could ever imagine and have given me the life I dream of.’

In the same year as the Cooke’s, Jo was faced with yet another challenging family – this time with five young boys in 2004.

Paul and Susan Young were parents to half a football team worth of disobedient boys, one of whom ended up in a young offenders institute just a few years after filming.

It was an occasion when even Supernanny, Jo Frost, had little to offer in the way of getting the boys to behave, as the family continued to suffer terrible behaviour even after her best efforts.

The youngest of the boys, Joel was only three years old at the time of filming but just two year later, managed to burn down the family home after he started a house fire using a lighter.

As a result, the family of seven were forced into temporarily staying at a hotel.

Ten years later and the Young family were still suffering with their poorly behaved sons, with one, Jacob, making headlines after landing himself in prison with a ten years prison sentence.

Jacob Young was arrested and sentenced for rape and theft after he strangled his victim to the point of unconsciousness.

The horrific incident occurred in the victims own home with the BBC reporting that the judge had declared Jacob as having an ‘extreme form of sexual curiosity or unhealthy fantasy’.

He denied charges of rape, ABH and theft but was found guilty by the jury.

Just four years earlier, when Jacob was just 14-years-old, he was convicted for another crime after he threatened a 12-year-old girl with a knife.

Callum Steer

Callum Steer – who was in the 2004 series of Supernanny – was arrested and imprisoned in 2023, aged 23, after randomly stabbing someone

The Steer family appeared in the 2004 series of the show with a mother, Kelly, and her two children, Sophie and Callum.

Jo was called in to help the mother, who’s house had been virtually destroyed by her children, Sophie who was five at the time and Callum, four.

Kelly was the first mother on the show to ever argue with Jo though her disobedient youngsters didn’t stop her from going on to remarry and have a further four children.

In 2012, her eldest, Sophie was excluded from school, for unknown reasons, it is believed.

However, Callum took an even more wayward route in life after he was jailed aged 23 for stabbing someone in the neck in his hometown in Crawley in 2023.

Sussex Live reported that after CCTV confirmed Callum was the perpetrator of the ghastly attack, he gave ‘no explanation or defence to the allegations’.

The attacked was reported to have been carried out ‘unprovoked’, landing the youngster sentenced to eight years in prison for his crimes.

A detective on the case remarked: ‘While the reason for Steer’s actions are unknown, it is clear that he inflicted a serious injury on his victim, who is fortunate to live to tell the tale.’
