A play centre has warned parents to stop bringing alcohol into the premises – and told the mothers and fathers responsible they risk being banned.
Tumbles Play Place highlighted the problem by posting a photograph of a bottle of Merlot red wine and a mixer on its Facebook page which had been found in the toilets.
It said leaving glass bottles was ‘completely unacceptable’.
Management wrote: ‘If you are so desperate for an alcoholic drink in the daytime, please don’t do it in our children’s play centre and leave your bottles on the toilets.

The play centre said leaving bottles in the toilets was ‘irresponsible and completely unacceptable’
‘We will be checking our CCTV and you will be banned from visiting again.’
Parents commenting on the post called it ‘very sad’, with one saying: ‘How disrespectful… gives you an idea of how their kids will be brought up.’
Tumbles, based in Mossley, near Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, was unavailable for comment today and has since removed the post about the booze.
But its management has written a further message explaining its insurance does not cover alcohol consumption on the premises and that glass bottles could pose a safety risk.

It added that there were no CCTV cameras in the toilets themselves.
In its statement, Tumbles Play Place said: ‘Following on from our recent post regarding alcohol being brought into the centre, we would just like to clarify the following points:
‘Tumbles DOES NOT have a licence to sell alcohol, nor does it allow visitors to consume alcohol on the premises.

‘As some commented, there may be other businesses with play areas that have licences for alcohol consumption, and their risk assessments and insurance should cover this. However, this DOES NOT apply to Tumbles.
‘Our insurance policy DOES NOT cover alcohol consumption within our venue, therefore any potential claims due to injury as a result of alcohol use would be void. This affects everybody within the venue, including the staff.
‘Tumbles first and foremost priority is the safety of our customers. Leaving glass bottles in areas such as the toilets, where children could potentially have unsupervised access to them is a safety issue.
‘The post was purely to bring to everyone’s attention that bringing alcohol, and leaving the empty glass bottles in the toilets at Tumbles is irresponsible and completely unacceptable.
‘As a business, we are obliged to have rules in place to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff and we will continue to enforce these.’
