It seems that Christmas decorations are emerging earlier and earlier each year, but for once, Easter appears to be hot on the heels of Christmas.

Typically, Easter decorations appear in supermarkets around the end of February or the beginning of March.

But shoppers at a B&Q were horrified to see Easter decorations in store on display where Christmas once sat.

Customers visiting the North Shields, New Castle B&Q looking for last minute Christmas decorations were left disappointed to find Christmas stock has been replaced with Easter items, despite the festive season still being months away.

Among the Easter decorations included bunnies, Easter eggs and different types of flowers.

The Daily Mail has approached B&Q for comment.

On Wednesday, Morrison’s customers were furious and threatened to boycott the supermarket after all its Christmas decorations were taken down.

The festive decorations around the checkout area at the Atlas Mills store in Bolton, Greater Manchester, were removed last Saturday after locals claimed the shop received complaints that the decorations were ‘offensive’. .

In a statement, Morrison’s said the removal of the Christmas decorations was down to ‘miscommunication’.

‘Following a miscommunication some were removed, however they have been reinstated and the store and our colleagues are excited to continue to help our customers celebrate Christmas.’

The spokesperson added that they were ‘looking into’ the miscommunication and said they would not be providing ‘any further comment’ at this time.

The response led to a backlash on social media, with shoppers expressing their anger.

One person wrote on social media: ‘Why do people think Christmas decorations will upset anyone?’

One comment read: ‘Whatever the miscommunication was, the decorations should have stayed up.

‘This country helps celebrate all religions. At this time of year, we should all embrace.’

One wrote: ‘This boils my blood. It’s Britain, we celebrate Christmas.’

Another said: ‘Won’t be shopping at Morrisons or any supermarket that doesn’t support Christmas.’

The local councillor, Susan Priest, waded in and said: ‘Bolton is a multi-faith place. We celebrate it all.

‘I want to see seasonal decorations going up for all of the different celebrations throughout the year, including Christmas.

‘That’s what makes Bolton a great place.

‘I think it’s probably been blown out of proportion, to be honest.’
