The Formula One universe is one of glitz, glamour – and very pampered pets.

Across the sport, drivers who rake in millions driving expensive cars give their beloved animals the same lavish lifestyles that they enjoy; with French driver Pierre Gasly becoming the latest to bring a dog into his family. 

He announced his new pet with fans in a social media post on Sunday, joining Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Nico Hulkenberg and Alex Albon in becoming dog fathers. 

But with F1 drivers travelling around the world to race in 24 events every single year, from Las Vegas to Singapore, how do these busy motorsport stars ensure their beloved pets receive the full pampering experience all year round?

Here, FEMAIL takes a look at the furry friends of F1 drivers and the lavish lifestyles they lead as they travel in style around the globe.

Lewis Hamilton 

The Mercedes driver, who will be joining Ferrari next season, is the proud owner of a British Bulldog called Roscoe – who is a star in his own right, boasting more than one million followers on his own Instagram page.

According to his bio, the pup ‘loves to travel, play ball and get attention from all the girls, especially when they rub my bum.’ 

Roscoe is also a vegan just like Hamilton, who made the switch to veganism in 2017 after being a pescatarian for a couple of years prior. 

The pampered pooch was even snapped supporting his owner’s team by rolling around the Silverstone race track in his own Mercedes G-Wagon.

The black SUV even had his own private plate on it which read: ‘R05 C0E,’ spelling out his name. 

The flashy car retails for around £170 online and the image was captioned: ‘Roscoe’s annual Silverstone appearance with some extra Mercedes style.’ 

Fans took to the comments to express their thoughts on the picture, with many stating that Roscoe has a better life than them. 

One wrote: ‘This dog is the epitome of “Living one’s best life”.’

Another penned: ‘I guess I should’ve expected Roscoe to have a nicer car than me.’ 

A fourth said: ‘Even Roscoe has his own Mercedes… Me when?’

The adorable Bulldog sometimes even joins Hamilton – who boasts seven world championship titles – during workouts in the gym, wearing paw-print neckerchiefs.

The pair of canines were pictured next to a bottle of bubbly, chilling on a comfortable bed. 

In 2020, Hamilton was heartbroken after Coco died from a suspected heart attack in his arms aged six years old.

He tried to revive her but added that it was ‘no use’. The driver said he shared a special last day with Coco before she passed away. 

He wrote in a post at the time: ‘Her breeder said she was going to have to put her down as she wouldn’t be able to afford all the things she would need to survive, she went through a lot to become the bouncy, lazy loving dog she was.

‘On her last day, we shared a special moment playing together which I will never forget.’

Nico Hulkenberg 

The Haas driver has an adorable fluffy black and white Pomeranian Zeus – named after the Greek God for lightning. 

The pup also belongs to his wife Egle Ruskyte and he has his own Instagram account with more than 13,000 followers. 

The cute hound can often be found living a luxurious life, travelling around the world with his mother and father.

Charles Leclerc

Leclerc – who drives for Ferrari – announced that a blonde miniature Dachshund, named Leo, joined his family back in April. 

He said at the time during an F1 press conference: ‘I’ve always had dogs within my family, but never had my own. And yeah, he joined last Monday and it’s been great.

The sweet dog was pictured running around and holding the pass in his mouth, which featured a picture of him on it and his full name. 

Leclerc captioned the picture: ‘He is very fast, he is very cool, he is very scary and very brave, he is everything. Leo.’ 

He also recently accompanied Leclerc to the Silverstone race, where the two were pictured going on walks together.

Alex Albon

Alex – who races with Williams – is a huge animal lover and has a whopping 12 cats, a dog and two horses.

He manages an Instagram account alongside his siblings Chloe, Zoe, Alicia and Luca which has 247,000 followers.

It features sweet snaps of all of his furry friends and in the bio, it says ‘welcome to the Albon Zoo’.

His cats include Moomoo,  Sasha, Duck, Goose, Horsey, Frooky, Looky, Gucci, Blue Bear, Gigi Giraffe, HipHip Hippo and Tiggy Tiger.

He also has one dog, a Border Collie called Otter, and two horses called Tino and Snow White.   

Alex loves his pets so much that he created a custom racing helmet with each of them on it and used it throughout 2022. 

He even launched a mini helmet on his online store so Formula 1 fans can purchase them for their pets.

The Alpine driver recently welcomed a cute ginger toy poodle with model girlfriend Francisca Gomes.

The pair did a joint post on Instagram this week and wrote: ‘Living in Simba’s world! New member of the family.’

F1 fans were excited by the news, with many commenting that Simba, Roscoe and Leo need to meet up.

One wrote: Leo and Simba need to meet up ASAP,’ whilst another penned: ‘When are Leo and Simba meeting???’

A third said: ‘It is now possible to create a space for pets in the paddock.’ 

Zhou Guanyu

Guanyu – who races for Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber – first showed off his lovable munchkin cat to his followers in February.

She is called Sweetcorn and like other F1 fur babies, she also has her own Instagram account with almost 50,000 followers.

Sweetcorn often accompanies Guanyu when he is playing video games and sits down right by his computer, monitoring his gameplay.

During the race in Monaco, Guanyu brought his fluffy cat along with him and walked her around the paddock on a lead. 

Sweetcorn’s caption said: ‘Move over Leo, there’s a new paddock pet in town.’

Guanyu recently celebrated his 25th birthday and got a bespoke cake made for the occasion, featuring sugar models of both him and Sweetcorn on top of it.  

Valtteri Bottas

Whilst many F1 drivers may have dogs, cats and even horses, Bottas took things one step further and got a pet reindeer.

The Finnish driver, who races for Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber, decided to take the next step with his girlfriend as they expanded their family. 

In December 2020, his partner Tiffany Cromwell, who is a professional cyclist, posted a picture of the animal, tagged Bottas and wrote:  ‘Welcome to the family Rosa.

‘Because everyone needs a pet reindeer in their life… don’t they? She’s going to live the best life in the Arctic!’

The picture features Tiffany wrapped up warmly dressed in a purple padded coat and trousers with her arm around the young adorable furry reindeer.
