Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica Stoll appeared to put their troubles behind them as they were spotted on a family getaway in Portugal together.

The Northern Irish golfer, 35 – who had earlier this year filed for divorce from Erica before calling it off only months later – looked to be in high spirits as he and his wife strolled along one another for a beach outing. 

The sunny retreat comes as McIlroy’s former agent had blamed his ‘messy life’ for major his struggles after their recent marriage drama.

Elsewhere Amanda Balionis – who has been closely associated with the athlete amid his relationship troubles – is enjoying some downtime after the Open, in a remote ranch in Wyoming.

Today, McIlroy was also pictured taking a dip in the sea while sporting red swimming trunks.

She accessorised the simple yet elegant look with a tote bag from Loewe, some flip-flops and glamorous sunglasses. Her bronzed tan was on show, and her sleek blonde hair was thrown up in a ponytail. 

The couple looked ready for a family day at the beach as they made their way to the sandy shores with packed bags. 

And CBS reporter Balionis – who has been in the headlines for the past few months, closely associated with McIlroy – shared photos and video from her trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, a popular tourist spot in the Mountain Time Zone, to Instagram.

On May 13, McIlroy filed for divorce from Stoll, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’, in a blindside to the golf world. 

McIlroy’s team confirmed the news of his split days before his opening round at this year’s PGA Championship at Valhalla in Kentucky, the course where he won his last major tournament in 2014. 

During the month McIlroy was seemingly back on the market, romantic rumors connected Balionis with McIlroy, with the Northern Irishman reportedly being spotted in her hometown of San Diego.

Balionis herself is reportedly going through a divorce with former NFL quarterback Bryn Renner, being seen without her wedding ring on earlier this year and in the Wyoming photos. 

McIlroy and Stoll reversed course on June 11, calling off their divorce, with the couple having worked through the differences that made a split public knowledge. 

McIlroy’s return to the golf course as a married man was one of the most heartbreaking defeats of his career. 

Two usually easy putts were missed by McIlroy, costing him June’s US Open to Bryson DeChambeau. 

Since reuniting, Stoll and McIlroy have been seen together in public together multiple times, including an occasion with three-year-old daughter Poppy, who will turn four next month. 

Now, the couple has been spotted on vacation in Southern Portugal, including Algarve. 

Back in America, Balionis appears to be in good spirits, documenting her trip, that includes a visit to Yellowstone National Park.

It comes as McIlroy’s former agent believes his ‘messy’ life is contributing to his major tournament slump. 

Speaking to talkSPORT, Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler broke down how his former client’s drought is caused by stresses from other areas in his life. 

‘The top, top players obviously play better more often, and then the really top players take their chances,’ he said. ‘That’s all that’s happened with Rory. Rory’s played fantastically for ten years, he just doesn’t take any chances.

‘Looking from the outside, and I haven’t seen Rory for a couple of years, but to me it looks like his life is messy. You know what it’s like as a sportsman, you have to have total focus and keep your mind on what you’re doing.

‘But it looks like Rory has spent a year and a half fighting LIV for the PGA Tour, then the PGA Tour pulled the rug from under him, then he started talking about LIV not being too bad, then he had his marriage problems, and then he’s got such media scrutiny because he hasn’t won a major in ten years.’

‘So he just can’t get away from it. I think his life is really messy.’
