Michael Barrymore had his phone stolen by ‘some kid on a bike’ when he returned to London to film nostalgia clips of where he was brought up, as he tells the thief: ‘your parents don’t love you’.

The entertainer, who has a huge following on TikTok, was minding his own business when a youngster cycled past and whipped his smartphone out of his hand.

He called the Met Police and said they were ‘extremely helpful’ dealing with the incident on the morning of February 13.

Barrymore, who is best known for hosting Strike It Lucky, My Kind Of People and Kids Say The Funniest Things, said on his TikTok that he had been filming a segment on Bermondsey, where he grew up, for Secret London, when the theft happened.

The piece involved him visiting places from his childhood and teenage years in both south and north London.

He said: ‘I was out filming this morning and the first thing that happened was I got my phone nicked by some kid on a bike so it wasn’t a great start.’

And he added: ‘I’m going to ring the police now and see if I can get my phone back from that little f*cker.’

He then poked fun at his assailant, with a video montage saying: ‘Hey everyone.

‘I hope you all had a great Tuesday. Except for you (lil bro on the bike who stole my phone clean out of my hand this morning in Bermondsey). Your parents don’t love you.’

His confession drew sympathy from his 2.3 million followers.

‘I aspire to be this funny when I’m old,’ one said, to which Michael replied: ‘I’m not joking Libs, I was robbed this morning.’

‘Sorry that happened to you Michael. London is going downhill. Hope you are ok,’ another said.

And one added: ‘So sorry this happened.’

Another asked: ‘Did he have a black jacket and an electric bike?’

Michael, 71, replied: ‘Possibly he was dressed in all black.’

‘Hope ya got your phone back Michael glad your ok and not hurt,’ to which the entertainer said: ‘I’m fine.’

Another asked whether the police did anything and Michae said: ‘The met police were extremely helpful.’

Michael lived on Bermondsey’s Dickens Estate for the first 18 years of his life.

His TV career went off the rails when partygoer Stuart Lubbock, 31, died after being found unconscious in his pool following a party at the star’s Essex mansion in March 2001.

There were 416,886 theft offences recorded by police in London in 2022/23, the highest amount since 2019/20.

The Met Police have been contacted for a comment.
