This is the shocking moment a flight to Ibiza was diverted after a drunk Brit reportedly downed vodka, hit the crew and spat at other passengers.

The plane from Manchester landed in Toulouse where the man and his wife were dragged off at 5.30pm on Sunday.

The couple were sat about 10 rows apart and the man spent the first hour of the flight ‘swigging duty free vodka’, according to a witness.

A passenger said the man began arguing with a male cabin crew member and punched him in the face.

He then started ‘kicking off’ and the passenger described the drunk man  as ‘out of control’.

Attendants reportedly warned him the plane would be diverted if he didn’t calm down, and he replied ‘I don’t give a f***’.

The drunk Brit assaulted another passenger and spat at a woman as he was restrained in the disturbing incident which lasted around 40 minutes.

But after he left the plane, his partner started harassing another passenger, hitting and shouting at him.

Police physically restrained the woman, who was barefoot, before removing her too.

The Ryanair flight spent just over an hour and a half on the tarmac before resuming the journey to Ibiza.

It comes after Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary called for flyers to be limited to two drinks at airports to crackdown on a rise in disorder on flights last week.

He wants a two-drink limit on each boarding pass, explaining: ‘It’s not that easy for airlines to identify people who are inebriated. As long as they can stand up, they’ll get through.

‘Then, when the plane takes off, we see the misbehaviour.’

Mr O’Leary said airports are opposed to changes, insisting that they refuse to serve passengers who are too drunk. But he added: ‘They do serve the relatives of the drunken passenger.’

A Ryanair spokesperson said: ‘This flight from Manchester to Ibiza diverted to Toulouse after a small group of passengers became disruptive inflight.

‘The crew called ahead for police assistance, who met the aircraft upon landing at Toulouse and offloaded two passengers before this flight continued to Ibiza.

‘We sincerely apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of these unruly passengers’ behaviour, which was beyond Ryanair’s control.

‘This is now a matter for local police.’
