A father has been arrested for beheading his one-year-old son in a shocking crime in California.

Andrey Demskiy, 28, was cuffed and charged by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Friday – following what relatives called ‘a devastating chain of events.’

Investigators from the sheriff’s office, meanwhile, framed the crime scene as one of the worst they had ever seen, after being called to a home along Versailles Way and Lamure Court around 4:15am.

Responding to a call of a domestic disturbance between Demskiy and the boy’s mother, the suspect at first would not let them in, cops said.

Deputies then learned that Demskiy had thrown the child, leading them to force entry, Public Information Officer Amar Gandhi said.

When they got inside, there was a struggle, the top cop confirmed in several statements – framing the fight as being between deputies and Demskiy, and ‘physical’ in nature.

It led to Demskiy being detained, Gandhi said – adding how it also allowed deputies to enter a bedroom where the youngster was believed to be.

There, officers found the small child later identified by the family as Micah Demskiy,  deceased. Recalling how deputies found the boy beheaded, Gandhi called the incident one of the worst the department had ever seen.

‘For this family who has got to pick up the pieces and go on – I mean, their world is shattered,’ Gandhi told KCRA-3 outside the cordoned-off home Saturday.

He said two women had been inside, the boy’s mother, Angelina Vinnikova, and Demskiy’s mother-in-law, were able to get outside prior to the physical altercation.

The mother-in-law, who DailyMail.com could not immediately name, was also assaulted by the suspect, cops said.

She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Gandhi said. He added that deputies had been ‘visibly shaken’ after detaining Demskiy, whom he said ‘refused to answer the door and surrender peacefully.’

Once the ‘uncooperative’ and ‘physically resistive’ suspect was subdued, cops booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in custody,’ the SCSO wrote.

He is ineligible for bail, the office added. Jail records, meanwhile, show how he is charged with three felonies after the incident – those being, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury to a spouse, and murder.

Gandhi said the sheriff’s office is also working to provide resources to aid Vinnikova, who, according to her social media, married Demskiy in 2022. Condolences started emerging on the mourning mother’s Facebook page on Sunday.

Her son, moreover, was remembered as a ‘kind and joyful soul’ by loved ones in a newly launched GoFundMe page, which, as of Sunday, has nearly tripled its $25,000 goal.

‘The sweet little boy was a kind and joyful soul, loving all people and especially dogs,’ wrote organizer Lilli Eirikh, calling Micah ‘our sweet boy,’

‘His kind heart and beautiful smile warmed the hearts of everyone he came in contact with.

‘He loved his family and especially his mama,’ she added. ‘He loved being with family, going to the park, and singing hymns with his family.’

Meanwhile, his father, accused of decapitating the boy with a knife, has a court date slated for December 24. He has no criminal history, officials said.
