Queen Maxima of the Netherlands once again proved her fashion sense is out of this world during a visit to a space museum.

The 53-year-old royal stepped out in a striking navy blue ensemble to attend the launch of a space curriculum for pupils at the Space Expo in the seaside town of Noordwijk.

The Vakkanjers programme encourages Dutch children to think about how to improve life on planet Earth by building a satellite and designing a research vehicle.  

The Queen dressed for the occasion in a knee-length dress which was patternedwith iridescent floral embellishments.

Carrying on the interstellar theme, the mother-of-three wrapped up warm in a dark blue woollen coat placed delicately over her shoulders and a matching statement hat.

Her blonde hair was scraped back into her signature plaited up-do underneath the headwear.

The Argentine-born royal opted for a bold make-up look with a dark smokey eye and heavy mascara.

Impeccably colour coordinated as always, the Queen wore galactic blue heels and clutched a matching purse in her hands.

She wore a pair of stunning sapphire and diamond earrings to complete the sophisticated look.

Queen Maxima attended the event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Vakkanjers with André Kuipers, the ambassador of the programme, and Britain’s first astronaut Helen Sharman.

The eco-conscious royal is no stranger to repeating outfits and once wore the same stunning dress while visiting a brewery in Lieshout in March 2019.

Her visit to the Space Expo, otherwise known as the Museum of European Space Agency, comes a day after King Willem-Alexander and Maxima welcomed astronauts to The Royal Palace in Amsterdam.

At today’s event, the Queen made an impression beyond fashion – one that delighted the children in attendance.

Four young girls joined the monarch on stage – all of whom were grinning from ear to ear – as they pressed a bright orange buzzer to mark the start of the Vakkanjers education challenge.

But no one was smiling more than Queen Maxima herself who appeared to throw her head back with laughter.
