Paul Mescal looked downcast as he stepped out in rainy New York City on Monday, after failing to receive a Golden Globes nomination.
Despite his leading role in Gladiator II, the actor was among the stars who was snubbed a nod for the 2025 awards.
Paul roamed around the big apple in his stylish navy coat and being the gentleman he is, he held up an umbrella for him and his pal.
The Irish actor wowed critics in the blood-soaked new historical epic, with a cast that includes Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal.
While the Oscar nominee didn’t receive a nod, Gladiator II is up for an award in the Cinematic And Box Office Achievement section.
Paul’s co-star Denzel was also nominated for Best supporting Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

Paul previously spoke about his love of tiny shorts, telling GQ in June, that he was a ‘big advocate for men wearing shorter shorts’.
Explaining how he put the outfit together, the Gladiator 2 star said: ‘From my eye, it’s to do with proportion. Like shorter shorts with maybe a longer top.’
In a recent interview with Variety, Paul argued that he was not to blame for the sudden surge in men adopting the small short look, saying: ‘For the record, I don’t think I’m responsible’.
However, his close pal and fellow movie star Saoirse Ronan disagreed, saying: ‘He’s somehow managed to make something that’s not really cool look really cool.
‘And when he paired it with the mullet and mustache a couple of years ago, I was like, “OK, this is either gonna go one way or the other”.’
Elsewhere in the interview from last month, Paul opened up about feeling the pressure following the release of his latest film Gladiator II.
The highly-anticipated sequel follows Pauls’ Lucius Verus, the former heir to the Roman Empire who is forced into slavery and eventually pushed to fight in the Colosseum in an effort to restore glory.
Reviews from critics have called Gladiator II the ‘best movie of the year’ and a ‘true epic’ as they hailed Paul and Denzel Washington’s performances.

However, Paul admitted: ‘I do feel the pressure, and I do feel the desire for this to make money. The box office needs a shot in the arm, and if films like Gladiator II aren’t doing it, it would be concerning. So I do feel a responsibility.’
He also recalled how he had gotten into a row with director Ridley Scott, after he ‘trained for f***ing months’ to do his all for one action-packed and stunt-filled scene, when Ridley changed his mind.
Paul said: ‘Two weeks before the scene, Ridley says, ‘You’re not f***ing doing it,’ and I was like, ‘What the f**k?,’ and we had this argument.’
The award-winning filmmaker had decided to cut the scene due to some equine advice he had received on another movie.
Paul added of the altercation: ‘I was pestering him constantly. And then the day before, he goes, “OK, you can do the stunt, but if you come off, it’s two Bentleys.”
The Aftersun star revealed that eventually pulled the move off in just a couple of takes.
