Queen Letizia of Spain put on a stylish display in a fashionable puffball skirt today as she looked on proudly while her husband, King Felipe VI, accepted an honorary degree in Naples in southern Italy.
Thursday marked the second day of the Spanish royals’ two-day state visit to Italy.
The mother-of-two, 52, who is often admired for her phenomenal dress sense, looked particularly striking in a jewelled ensemble paired with an understated crisp white shirt.
The outfit – adorned with diamantes and styled in tiny pleats – made a statement at the San Carlo Theatre, Naples’ celebrated opera house.
Her top, which she wore open at the neck and tucked into the waistband, was slightly oversized and had white buttons on the cuffs.
The King’s wife styled her shoulder-length brown hair in a classic blow dry.
She tucked her luscious locks behind her ears to reveal a pair of dainty, diamond-encrusted earrings.
Letizia, a former journalist, kept her make-up simple with a nude tint on her lips and a warm bronze eyeshadow on her lids.

She shared a sweet smile with her husband as they stood together on the auditorium’s elaborate balcony before King Felipe descended to the stage to accept his degree from the University of Naples Federico II.
Towering over his wife, Felipe, 56, wore dark suit paired with a pink, patterned tie.
However, when it came to accepting his honorary degree in Social Sciences and Statistics, the King donned an academic robe and a mortarboard hat, along with a medal on a ribbon around his neck.

The investiture ceremony took place at 4.30pm on Thursday, according to Rome-based news outlet Il Messaggero.
The publication reported that the Rector of the University Federico II, Matteo Lorito, said: ‘We have managed to realise a dream. It is an event that has a special significance.
‘I believe it is the first honorary academic title conferred by Federico II to a non-Italian head of state.’
King Felipe beamed as he was presented with his certificate by the Rector of the university, which is 800 years old.
Lorito added: ‘The reasons are easy to understand. Spain is a very important country with a very high level of civilization, and the role of the Head of State is deeply linked to the stability of the country.

‘It is one of those cases where the awardee is more important than the award.’
Earlier in the week, another Italian publication, Il Mattino, reported that King Felipe was due to deliver a lecture at the Teatro San Carlo as part of the celebratory events program for the 800th anniversary of the University of Naples Federico II.
During their two-day state visit to Italy, Queen Letizia and King Felipe have had a packed itinerary.
Earlier today, when the royals were still in Rome, Letizia looked stunning in a boucle suit as she visited the Food and Agricultural Organisation Headquarters in Rome.
She looked sophisticated in a black and white boucle suit complete with a tailored blazer and knee-length skirt.
Choosing a figure-hugging style, Letizia added a wide black waist belt.
She wore her brown hair loose and in a straight style while she brightened her complexion with bronzer and lipstick.
The Spanish royals began their day by visiting the FAO Headquarters situated in the centre of Rome, near the Circo Massimo and close to the Colosseum.

In 2015, the royal was named FAO Special Ambassador for Nutrition at the food centre in Rome.
The new position honoured Letizia’s commitment to tackling hunger and malnutrition internationally, as well as her country’s efforts to promote global food and nutritional security.
She is no stranger to the FAO and has attended the International Conference on Nutrition in previous years.
