- The Saint Laurent show followed Dior’s opening showcase on Tuesday
SUCH is the legend of Yves Saint Laurent, it’s tempting to imagine he can control the weather, even from beyond the grave.
Alas, this proved not to be true in Paris as the heavens opened, rendering the deluged open-air venue a dramatic choice.
But the rain was not going to keep away the celebrity guests from the Saint Laurent’s Spring 2025 runway.
Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 37, wore a satin shirt dress with built-in suspender stockings and a leather belt – while actresses Zoe Kravitz, 35, and Philippine Leroy Beaulieu, 61, opted for dresses of sheer.
Others were a little more covered up against the elements – with Kate Moss, 50, in a black velvet tuxedo jacket. Gwyneth Paltrow, 51, chose a grey suit teamed with a black coat over her shoulders.

Guests wore clothes from Saint Laurent’s autumn/winter 2024 collection, the polarity of their masculine vs feminine style explored by the label’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
Model Bella Hadid, 27, was in an oversized black suit worn with a shirt and tie. To enhance the idea, she wore the designer’s distinctive black glasses.
Satin mini skirts, chiffon blouses and sheer lace tops provided a soft counterfoil to the hard-edged suiting, and came in classic YSL hues of lipstick red, burnt orange, tobacco brown and sage greens.

The weather didn’t play ball: on the catwalk, the temperature was hot.
Today’s Saint Laurent showcase follows the Dior opening show on Tuesday, which saw fashion A-listers taking to the streets of Paris to celebrate the French fashion house.
As the actress who played Princess Diana in The Crown, Elizabeth Debicki is well-versed in assuming different identities. But at the Dior show, she seemed more interested in resurrecting Dot Cotton than Diana.
Dressed in a belted grey herringbone coat with a black and white headscarf tied under her chin, Debicki was almost unrecognisable as she channelled the beloved Albert Square character played by June Brown.
Brown, who passed away in April 2022 at the age of 95, played the no-nonsense, deeply religious and much beloved character of Dot Cotton in EastEnders for more than 35 years.
Dot was perhaps best remembered for her troubled family life as she tried to get her son, villain ‘Nasty’ Nick, on the straight and narrow, but she also had her fashionista moments and was known for wearing headscarves to protect her heat-set curls – a look Debicki inadvertently paid tribute to in Paris.
She joined actresses Natalie Portman, Rosamund Pike, Anya Taylor-Joy and even French First Lady Brigitte Macron, clutching a £5,000 Lady Dior bag, on Dior’s front row – although they hadn’t gone for quite the same look.
Both Pike and Taylor-Joy were dressed in looks from Dior’s Cruise 2025 collection showcased in Perthshire, Scotland, earlier this year.
But to guests’ great relief, it wasn’t EastEnders that appeared to have been on creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s moodboard, it was the recent Olympics.
