Most Londoners will be familiar with the sight of a fox; whether it’s scuttling through the bins or wandering the streets in plain sight.

And in the latest installment of the city’s resident animal taking over the capital, a TikTok user captured the small mammal riding on public transport.

The social media user, who uses the handle @fijibishh, caught the moment when the creature wandered down the stairs of a double-decker bus, seemingly en route during a commute.

Taking a gander at its moving surroundings, the little fox took a few cautious sniffs before hopping down to the lower floor and moving towards the door.

However, it’s unclear if it ever left the bus or not.

The animal looked very small and slim – which viewers suggested mean it might be a young cub that lost its family.

The TikToker perfectly captioned the amusing and unlikely incident, writing ‘casual bus rides in London’.

Social media viewers were wowed by the unusual footage, which racked up 484,000 views on the app.

‘I swear foxes are trying to domesticate themselves,’ one wrote of the emboldened creature.

‘He’s on his way home from work, leave him alone,’ another joked.

A third quipped: ‘So he didn’t have to pay, but I do?!’

But it’s not the first time that a fox has made itself at home on London buses. One much larger creature was recently spotted snoozing on the back seat of one of the city’s buses.

The ginger creature looked perfectly comfortable crashed out on the soft chairs while mostly ignoring those who stopped to capture the moment.

And as the capital’s population grows, it’s no wonder that the number of the wild animals has also risen.

According to the London Wildlife Trust there are an estimated 10,000 urban foxes in London, but this number cannot be reliably counted and can fluctuate.

More foxes have been seen out and about during the day, including lounging on garden furniture and taking a stroll in the street.

Video footage shows one fox sat comfortably basking in the sun on a garden seat. The camera zooms in on the relaxed animal before it hurriedly runs away across the lawn.

They even seem to have learned how to avoid oncoming traffic, as another clip showed one fox out in the day peering cautiously from left to right at a road and pausing for cars to pass by.

Once it has deemed the journey safe enough, it trots across the road and creeps underneath a bench before disappearing into a hedge.
