The event’s theme is togetherness. So it is fitting this beautiful bespoke drawing by legendary artist Charlie Mackesy will appear on the Order of Service’s front cover for the Princess of Wales’s annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey tomorrow.

The creator of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse said tonight it had been ‘very special’ to be asked by Kate and her team to create the illustration.

He said: ‘Love, empathy and kindness are important messages for us all. As the theme of the Princess of Wales’ carol service this year, it was very special to have been asked to create the illustration for the Order of Service. I hope it reminds us of the beauty of being there for each other at Christmas.’

It shows a group of people embracing, arms wrapped around each other for support, walking towards Westminster Abbey through a blanket of snow.
