The Surrey edition of the Omaze Million Pound House Draw will raise money for Prostate Cancer UK — the country’s leading men’s health charity.

The partnership with Omaze will help fund a programme that will test new ways of diagnosing prostate cancer, which could lead to the first-ever UK-wide prostate cancer screening programme for men.

Actor and Prostate Cancer UK ambassador Colin McFarlane – who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2022 said: ‘As a black man over 45, I’d always been aware of my increased risk of prostate cancer. But when you get that diagnosis and hear the c-word, it’s a shock.

‘Luckily, we caught it early and there’s a low risk of it spreading any further. I’m now being safely monitored and even been told I might never need treatment.

‘I know my story could have been very different though.

‘By shouting about it from the rooftops I’m now on a mission to get more men understanding their risk of prostate cancer.

‘If you’re over 50, or your dad or brother had it, you’re at even higher risk, and if you’re black like me, check your risk from 45 as the risk doubles to one in four.

‘The more people we tell, the more lives we save.

‘It’s not only about awareness though. I’m incredibly passionate to support Prostate Cancer UK in raising the necessary funds through partnerships such as this with Omaze.

‘12,000 men die of prostate cancer every year in the UK – that’s 12,000 men for whom the disease wasn’t caught early enough.

‘I’m incredibly passionate to be supporting Prostate Cancer UK and Omaze in this campaign, as the funds raised will ultimately save men’s lives.’

Omaze has guaranteed a minimum donation of £1 million from the partnership.

James Oakes, Chief International Officer at Omaze, said: ‘Everyone at Omaze is thrilled to be partnering with Prostate Cancer UK for our latest house draw.

‘By offering this amazing property in Surrey, along with £100,000 in cash, Omaze is giving people the chance to win a life-changing prize that can enable them to live mortgage or rent free, as well as raising money for charities and introducing its charity partners to new audiences that they wouldn’t otherwise reach.’
