  • Students partied the night on the city’s nightclub strip for their first night out
  • But some freshers’ night ended less fresh after being taken away in ambulances

Thousands of students piled into Birmingham’s famous nightclub strip on the first Saturday night of Welcome Week.

Just hours after they were dropped off by their parents, university freshers celebrated their newfound freedom with a night on the town.

Partygoers took advantage of the dry weather to pose for pictures outside.

Some were pictured tucking into takeaways on Broad Street in their first student night out.

Others took the opportunity to let their hair down as the late night became the early morning.
