Location, Location, Location viewers have slammed a ‘miserable’ couple for claiming huge four-bedroom houses in Belfast were ‘too small’.

In the latest episode of the Channel 4 property finding show hosted by Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer, Tony and Val looked to relocate to Ireland after living in London for three decades.

The couple, who have been married for 27 years, had very specific requirements for their search, including being near a train station, proximity to the coast, and having four spacious bedrooms – despite it being just the two of them.

Time and time again, Val and Tony left Phil frustrated, eventually discarding all five properties they went to visit.

They took issue with how ‘small’ the properties were and any ‘low ceilings’ – and while they wanted old-fashioned character, they wanted it to be in a modern condition to avoid any renovations.

Phil showed them a very spacious £395,000 detached four-bedroom house in Carnalea – massively under their £475,000 budget – but the couple were quick to complain it was ‘too small’.

Frustrated viewers soon took to X/Twitter to slam their ‘glum’ attitude, with some saying even ‘Buckingham Palace’ wouldn’t be enough for them.

They wrote: ‘Dear lord, these guys have got to be some of the most miserable people I’ve seen on this show. You’re a saint Phil Spencer’;

‘You could show them Buckingham palace and they still would have a problem’;

‘OMG Mr and Mrs Glum!’;

‘Some folk should stay where they were, nothing would make them happy…’;

‘These two would strike Downton off because of ceilings, cracks and being too small’;

‘Only came on here to see if everyone else thinks these two are right miserable gits. They’d get a 2 bedroom flat on my road for that budget’;

‘Fascinated by older solo and couple buyers who look for houses with enough space to house 15 people…like how much space do people really need’;

‘Why in the name of Christ Almighty do these two sour faced idealist idiots need a FOUR BEDROOM family home to themselves? There’s only two of them! Why are they so obsessed with having more space?’

After selling their beloved terraced home in Chingford, Val and Tony had a £475,000 budget to purchase their dream costal home in Ireland.

They hoped to find a four bedroom property with two reception rooms and two bathrooms, with Tony having enough space to work from home.

Val said: ‘We just like a lot of space really, for two of us!’ while Tony joked: ‘It’s the secret of 27 years of marriage!’

After viewing the first property found by Phil, the couple were quick to make any complaints clear.

When Phil asked them: ‘Did you have a garden in London?’, Tony responded: ‘We did, and it was 160 foot long, so this is a little bit small. I could live with it I think.’

They then noted the ceilings were ‘too low’ which made it a ‘little bit dark’.

The couple also disliked the property's garden, as they said their garden back in Chingford was 'far bigger'

Tony said: ‘We’ve moved from an older house with much higher ceilings. It just feels a little bit claustrophobic at the moment. It’s a little bit small isn’t it – in fact, it’s quite small.’

But Phil explained the period homes they had been used to weren’t available in this part of the country for the budget they had.

And even after they found a property in Bangor ‘more similar to our old house’, Tony and Val said the windows were ‘too crooked’ and said it was ‘too much’.

In the end, the couple went against the show’s convention, and began to view properties they’d found on their own without Phil’s help – but even then weren’t satisfied.

Phil delivered them a hard truth, saying: ‘Those character properties within the areas you like are not in your budget.’

Eventually, Tony and Val were forced to downsize on their original hopes, putting in an offer for a £310,000 property in Ballyholme with three bedrooms.

Last week, viewers were left in disbelief at a £450,000 flat in north London – which came with a major catch.

Phil’s couple Toby and Simone, both 26, were looking to buy their first home – with a £45,000 deposit and £450,000 maximum budget due to using the government’s Lifetime ISA.

After renting in Finchley for several years, the couple were looking to continue the ‘buzz’ of their city life, with decent links to the city centre and a nearby high street.

Phil finally managed to find what seemed to be their dream home in the area – a 750 square foot first and second floor duplex flat with a large private garden and within budget.

However, the property had one major flaw – as Toby and Simone would need to walk through their neighbours’ garden in order to reach their own.
