People have been left baffled after an Asda delivery van was spotted seemingly abandoned in the Yorkshire Dales.

The van was snapped on Thursday in a field in Langcliffe, North Yorkshire within stone walls with no apparent easy route to the area, which appears to be in the middle of nowhere.

It is currently not clear why it was there, but people joked on social media that the driver must have been let down by their satnav.

The images of the vehicle were shared on social media yesterday with the caption: ‘When Adrian Mole gets an Asda home delivery.’

Another joked: ‘I think he was getting fresh lamb.’

A social media user replied: ‘But the Sat Nav said.’

Someone commented: ‘That’ll cost more than your ASDA price for a tow out.’

And another quipped: ‘Did this enter the field via parachute?’

Images show the van apparently parked up inside a rut, perhaps leaving it unable to accelerate up and out of the field.

Cows graze gently opposite the van, seemingly unfazed by the giant green motor which on closer inspection has left a wheel in the mud.

The Mercedes van appears to have gotten into trouble in the field and sunk the front right tyre into the sodden field next to a couple of molehills.

It is not known if the Asda driver had been delivering food nearby before they got themselves stuck in the field.

Also, there appears to be no damage to any of the walls or gates nearby leaving the question of how and why exactly the van got there as a total mystery to stumped locals.

MailOnline has contacted Asda for comment.
