According to rough estimates, there are around 40,000 golf courses in the world. However, if a round of golf without any clothes on is what you are looking for then the options are far more limited.

La Jenny, situated around 60 kilometres from Bordeaux on France’s west coast, is the only exclusively nudist golf course on Earth and it has been getting rave reviews from its visitors.

While many golfers spend hundreds of pounds on footwear, one of the things mentioned in multiple reviews of La Jenny is how good it feels to play with nothing below the ankle, or above it for that matter.

One review on Tripadvisor read: ‘The (6 hole) golf course is a truly lovely spot. It is naturist only and we really enjoyed playing naked and bare foot, albeit it did not seem to improve the standard of play! It was still on winter greens when we were there but was still great fun to play. We also enjoyed a drink on the club house terrace afterwards.’

Another nudist player hailed their trip to La Jenny as ‘a unique and wonderful experience’.

The feeling of freedom gained by playing naked was also something mentioned in multiple reviews, as was the free parking!

While there may still be somewhat of a taboo around naturism in the UK, the practice has been popular in France since the 1920s – with around 150 member clubs offering holiday accommodation – and numerous homes where naturist swimming and sunbathing is commonly practiced.

But at La Jenny, nudity is ‘compulsory’ should the weather allow – with the facilities being described as ideal for ‘Epicureans who know how to combine conviviality and professionalism’.

However, you cannot simply just turn up, take off all your clothes, get in a golf buggy and play a round, as the course is only open to anyone staying at the adjoining holiday park.

A five-star review of the holiday park from 2023 read: ‘Perfect 100 per cent naturist holiday resort. Forest, beach, all facilities and no need for clothes anywhere, any time. Quite isolated, but everything you need on site, including shops, restaurants, bars and the world’s only naturist golf course!’

A free golf introductory lesson can be provided for anyone who is comfortable in their own skin but unfamiliar with the sport.

While a standard golf course has 18 holes, La Jenny only has six.

Playing options also start at the extremely affordable price of €3 (£2.50) if punters fancy getting in some practice on the driving range.

Prices do rise to €32 for the use of the green during the day, or €94 to play on the green during peak summer season.

Anyone who is really keen on honing their golf skills in the nude can have a five-hour long lesson for €250 – which could be used to ply your trade on a full 18 elsewhere.

La Jenny note that you can pay €132 to play 18 holes of golf naked on an external course – an exploit that is not advised for the self-conscious.

The getaway also features numerous amenities, with its own bar, restaurant, launderette and mini-market.

For those who want to sample local French cuisine – anyone visiting can also purchase food from an on-site butcher and fishmongers.

In 2025, the holiday park opens on the last weekend of March and is operational all the way until the final weekend of September.
