Castelnau takes its name from Castelnau-le-Lez, a village on the outskirts of Montpellier in Southern France.
In 1691, the 10th Baron of Castelnau and St Croix left France for England and his son, Charles Boileau, bought land and settled in Barnes.
After Boileau’s death the following year, Upper Bridge Road was renamed Castelnau.

One added: ‘To live in Worrzel Gummidge’s house would be my life’s dream!!!!’
Another said they thought the property was ‘bigger than the tardis.’
One chimed in, saying: ‘Fabulous house. A little out of my price range sadly.’
‘Would have been nice and convenient for Riverside Studio, I think they were still filming there when he was the doctor.’
And another gave their personal experience of the Pertwee family: ‘I worked with his son a few years ago – the loveliest and most humble nepo baby ever and we all ended up at his house one night after drinks and I can definitely state that it’s even nicer than the pictures.
‘I love Castlenau and it used to be a terrible grid locked road till Hammersmith bridge closed permanently and now it’s a dream. Lucky him.’
