A man who is married to a 2ft 10in woman has candidly revealed how he and his mom refused to speak to each other for months after getting into a bitter feud when she voiced severe disapproval of his wife.

Bryan, 36, and Yesi, 34, from Palmdale, California, appeared on a recent episode of Truly’s Love Don’t Judge to explain the realities of their mixed-height relationship.

The couple, who have been together since 2017, have laid bare the fierce backlash they face on a daily basis over their three-foot height difference. 

Bryan’s mom was among the more vocal objectors and even asked her son: ‘Are you sure you want to be with someone [if] you’re gonna wipe their butt for the rest of your life?’

Bryan and Yesi then moved in together the following year before officially tying the knot in the Bahamas in 2021

Bryan, who is 5ft 9in, first met Yesi, who is 2ft 10in, on a dating app in 2017.

He said that she thought she was ‘very pretty’ from the start and ‘knew she was a little person because it was a full-body photo.’

The pair eventually agreed to go on a dinner date and Yesi said that Bryan made her feel comfortable right away.

Having hit it off, Bryan and Yesi then moved in together the following year before officially tying the knot in the Bahamas in 2021.

Yesi suffers from a rare type of dwarfism known as diastrophic dysplasia – with only one in a million people being diagnosed.

She candidly revealed that despite her condition leaving her with short limbs and degenerating joints, the ‘main thing’ she struggles with is society and discrimination.

‘People stare, some people think it’s okay to come and ask very personal questions or take pictures without even asking,’ Yesi said, before Bryan added that people also regularly ‘pat her on the head.’

She continued: ‘There’s some parents that will come and tell their kids to come and look. They start pointing and that’s upsetting.

Yesi, who said she had ‘never dated a little person in her life,’ stated that people most often make the assumption that Bryan was her caregiver rather than her husband

‘I don’t mind the kids being curious, that’s normal but the ignorance of adults is a trigger for me.’

But it isn’t just strangers who have criticized the couple’s height difference as Bryan revealed his own mother was ‘reserved about it’ at first.

Upon first being told about the pairing, mom Maggie asked Bryan: ‘Are you sure you want to be with someone that you’re gonna wipe their butt for the rest of your life?’

And that led to the mother and son not speaking for more than six months.

Maggie told the program: ‘I had a lot of concerns. I never met anybody who was small. 

‘The way Bryan put it at the beginning, it was like she was totally dependent. She’s in a wheelchair. 

‘And I just let him think about what he was getting himself into.’

She has since said that her hesitation was not about ‘disapproval,’ but about concerns that Yesi would be fully reliant on Bryan, adding that her doubts were about his ‘commitment to do what it takes.’

But Maggie, following a reconciliation, is now accepting of their marriage.

Hitting back at all the criticism, Yesi concluded: ‘All I will say is respect our relationship, respect me as a person and that’s it.’
