Christina Hall’s fans and followers were shocked when she and her husband Josh Hall filed for divorce on Monday.
And part of that confusion may have been due to the fact that Christina — who was seen for the first time since the split in images exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com — had shared what she considered the ‘secret’ to keeping her marriage strong just three days before the couple filed for divorce.
In a story published July 13, she claimed that ‘keep[ing] communication open’ was an essential part of a success union while talking to E! News, though the interview occurred prior to her birthday on July 9.
But in the wake of the divorce filings, Christina, 41, has apparently been deleting memories of her brief marriage to Josh.
She stepped up the memory wipe when she deleted an Instagram post detailing how she and the 43-year-old realtor fell in love, according to People.
Christina Hall, 41, spoke about the ‘secret’ to her strong marriage to Josh Hall with E! News just days they filed for divorce on Monday
In her recent E! News interview, Christina praised the importance of ‘being communicative’ with a partner to keep a relationship strong, and she also stressed the importance of ‘having alone time when we can, whether it’s date night, going on little trips — just things like that.’
The advice wasn’t exactly revolutionary or counter-intuitive, but according to Christina, that’s part of its charm.
Couples who don’t have issues focusing on communication and prioritizing ‘alone time’ are likely on solid footing.
However, it’s not clear if she felt as if those qualities accurately described her marriage at the time.
However, she certainly sounded as if she was at a good place in life.
‘I love where I live,’ she gushed in reference to her enormous Newport Beach home. ‘I love my family, I love doing these shows. So I feel like everything’s going really well.’
But statements about what she hoped for the future that read as innocuous at the time took on a darker tone in the wake of her divorce filing.
‘I need things to be more peaceful and calm,’ she said, adding that she wanted to focus on living in the moment. ‘And just overall, less chaos, less drama.’
She added: ‘I’m used to chaos. I don’t get stressed. Most of those things are out of my hands’
Christina also said that she and Josh had been clearing out their home days earlier of non-essential possessions.
‘We’re in a good rhythm right now, and I want it to stay that way. Just peace, calm, fun and as little chaos as possible,’ she concluded.
She also appeared to have deleted a July 2021 Instagram post (pictured) in which she spoke fondly of her early months with Josh out of the spotlight and how much she feared their relationship going public

Following the divorce announcement, People reported that Christina had deleted an Instagram post describing key early moments in her relationship with Josh, though it wasn’t clear when exactly it had been deleted.
The post, which featured a moody photo shot from behind of Josh embracing Christina under a beach shelter, was posted in July 2021, just a month after she had finalized her divorce from her second husband Ant Anstead.
In her lengthy caption, she wrote that she met her future husband when she ‘wasn’t in a state of fear or fight-or-flight.’
The Flip Or Flop star added that she had been disconnecting from social media when she met Josh.
‘The synchronicities hit us so hard and fast they were impossible to ignore,’ she said of their instant connection. ‘I felt immediately crazy protective over him and wanted to keep him for myself and get to know each other before the tornado [of media attention] hit.’
The romance had a special quality, because they had ‘a few solid months’ out of the spotlight to solidify their connection before the relationship was revealed to the public.
Christina said she ‘loved every second’ of that secret time together.
She noted that she was writing her post two days after she and Josh had been photographed catching a plane ahead of her 38th birthday.
‘When I saw a camera behind us at the airport my heart started beating out of my chest and my hands shaking — And not for me but for him,’ she said of her future husband.
She also stressed the importance of ‘having alone time when we can, whether it’s date night, going on little trips — just things like that’

In their divorce filings, Christina and Josh listed July 8 as their date of separation.
Both partners are reportedly asking for spousal support from the other person, while neither wants to pay their partner.
In his documents, Josha had requested that the court ‘divvy up what was theirs respectively before they got married.’
Christina’s first marriage was to Tarek El Moussa, with whom she began starring in the popular HGTV series Flip Or Flop. After getting together in 2005, they married in 2009.
Their show documented their attempts to buy up houses on the cheap and then gut and remodel them, all while betting that they would be able to resell the homes at a profit.
The series, which ran for 10 seasons, overlapped with major family stressors for the couple, including when Tarek was diagnosed with thyroid and testicular cancer, which required him to undergo radioactive iodine therapy.
Things took a dark turn in May 2016 following an altercation at the couple’s Yorba Linda home involving a gun.
At the time, it was reported that police had responded to a call about a ‘possibly suicidal male with a gun.’
Police located Tarek with a gun on a trail near the couple’s home and escorted him back, and he later claimed that the incident was ‘blown out of proportion,’ as he said he only had the handgun for protection.
Tarek filed for divorce in early 2017, and it was finalized the following year. The couple shared two children: daughter Taylor, 13, and son Brayden, eight.
In early 2018, Christina began dating the British television presenter Ant Anstead, and they were married by December of that year.

Josh Hall proposed to Christina in September 2021 and they eloped a month later. The marriage was revealed in April 2022, and they later had a destination wedding in Maui in September 2022; seen in July 2023
In September 2019, she welcomed her only child with Ant, their son Hudson, four.
But almost a year later, Christina announced that they were divorcing, and it was finalized by June 2021.
She met Josh in the spring of that year, and he proposed in September 2021.
They were married in October, but didn’t confirm the marriage until April 2022, and they went on to have a bigger destination wedding in Maui, Hawaii, in September 2022.
