A Morning Live guest fought back tears while sharing the final wish of their friend who died from skin cancer aged 33.
In Tuesday’s (February 11) episode of the BBC show, Briony May Williams spoke to a woman named Emma.
Emma told how she is trying to raise £8,000 – and addressed the costs of memorial benches in Torbay, Devon.
She hopes to fund a memorial bench for her late friend Holly Bedford, who died in May 2025.
Speaking to Briony in a pre-recorded film, Emma said: ‘[Holly] was bubbly, friendly, warm but yeah, she was just amazing. Just a really, really good person.’
Visibly emotional, she added: ‘In October 2024 she got diagnosed with skin cancer, stage 4.

Holly was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2024 and passed away in May 2025, aged just 33
Morning Live’s Briony May Williams spoke to Emma about her efforts to fund a memorial bench for Holly
‘But unfortunately in May last year she lost her life. So when she did pass we wanted to kind of keep her legacy going and honour her the best way we can.’
Emma proceeded to explain how a memorial bench would help to continue Holly’s memory.
She revealed: ‘It was one of her last wishes, she wanted it up on where we play football, upon the field.
‘With Holly being so young her family and friends are going to be here for quite a while so we wanted the most time possible which was, for 25 years, £8,000 pounds.’
Emma told Briony that so far, the cause had raised just over £4,000.
Answering what she would like to see happen, Emma shared: ‘I think ideally it would be lower the cost, make it more affordable.’
Having explored the issue further, Briony revealed to viewers: ‘Here in Torbay, for a 25 year sponsored standard memorial bench, it costs £8,000.
‘The price increases to £12,000 in premium locations like on the seafront. And with both deals, maintenance, repair and replacement if damaged is included.’
She went on: ‘A neighbouring council offers memorial benches for £1,680 as part of their 10 year package with maintenance and repair included.
‘And further afield we found a London council charging £1,775 also for 10 years.’
‘Torbay prices starting at £8,000 are for a 25 year period but its current pricing is roughly double regional and some national comparisons.’
Back in the studio, hosts Helen Skelton and Rav Wilding shared an update on the situation – with Torbay Council issuing a response to the film.
Rav said: ‘Torbay Council says it provides a wide range of memorial bench options including a plaque on a shared bench starting at £550.
‘It said this memorial scheme supports the enhancement of Torbay’s natural beauty.’
Helen added: ‘It’s acknowledged that communication around the 25 year term for an exclusive memorial bench has not always been sufficiently clear and said a review is underway to ensure best possible value and clarity for residents and visitors.
‘It says it addresses individual cases sensitively.’

Elsewhere, a Morning Live star addressed reports they’ve been ‘quietly replaced’ on the BBC show.
Dr. Ranj Singh, 46, joined the Morning Live team as resident doctor in 2021, after appearing in a similar capacity on This Morning.
The NHS clinician has been off air since July 2025 after he controversially signed a lucrative deal to work for the fat-jab company, Voy, alongside Coleen Nolan.
Meanwhile, The Sun reported at the time that Dr. Ranj had been ‘quietly replaced’ by new faces including The Traitors alum Dr. Kasim Ahmed and Dr. Aziza Sesay.
Taking to Instagram, the star addressed these reports in a video posted to his followers.
He said: ‘Have I been sacked? Okay, so it’s the New Year. On top of that, lots of you have been asking questions about my career and what’s been going on.
‘So I thought, “Maybe it’s time for an update”. Firstly, am I still a doctor? Yes, I am.’
Dr. Ranj went on to explain that after having worked for the NHS for approximately two decades, he sought a ‘new challenge.’
He elaborated: ‘Have I left Morning Live? No, I haven’t. I’m actually taking a break while I focus on some of my other projects.
‘You may have seen that I’ve been working with some brands recently, particularly Voy and Manual, and because of on-screen editorial guidelines, whilst I’m working with those brands, whilst I’m doing that corporate work, I can’t be on Morning Live.’
Further clarifying his status with Morning Live, Dr. Ranj concluded: ‘I haven’t fallen out with anybody, I haven’t been replaced.
‘My hope is to go back to Morning Live as soon as my brand work is over.’
