A Cambridge-educated doctor accused of having sex with multiple women at his GP practice told a junior colleague after she accused him of sexually harassing her to kill herself, saying: ‘You should visit a suicide booth like they have on Futurama,’ a tribunal has heard.

Dr Thomas Plimmer, 40, faces allegations from half a dozen women that he used his consulting room at his practice in Swindon, Wiltshire as a haven to have sex with them.

For a period of 18 months from May 2018, the GP allegedly subjected the first complainant – described only as Colleague A – to a catalogue of unwanted sexual advances, a Medical Practitioners Tribunal heard.

The woman was junior to him and he knew her to be vulnerable but still subjected her to a barrage of sexual acts and harassment, including sending her pictures and videos of himself having sex with other women, it is claimed.

In September 2019, Dr Plimmer allegedly referenced an animated sci-fi sitcom to suggest she should kill herself.

The GP is claimed to have told the woman: ‘On Futurama they have suicide booths. Maybe that’s what you need, you should go and do that’. He allegedly also sent her pictures of himself with his head in a noose, having sex with other women and performing a sexual act on himself.

There was weekly sexual behaviour between Plimmer and Colleague A, which he said was consensual, but she was fearful of reporting because she felt she would be the one blamed.

Cambridge-educated Plimmer later sought to exercise control over the woman by threatening to make disclosures to her husband, the tribunal has been told.

Plimmer met another woman on a dating app on New Year’s Eve 2019 and brought her to the consulting room at his practice of January 3.

The tribunal heard that he made a mug of tea, locked the door and she performed a sex act on him.

Mr Monaghan argued that she was ‘uncomfortable’ because she could ‘hear people walk past’.

The tribunal was also told that he met another woman online, identified as Miss C, in May 2018. The pair went to the tennis at Wimbledon and he even met her parents.

He then started ‘making excuses’ to avoid seeing her, including that his mother had suffered ‘several serious strokes’ and needed to be in a rehab facility.

‘These excuses were deliberate lies to allow him to juggle and see other women instead,’ Mr Monaghan argued.

In May 2020, after the pair had been together for two years, she is understood to have become concerned by his distant behaviour. He invited her to his practice and they had sex during working hours, it was claimed.

Plimmer allegedly continued to be ‘attentive from a distance’ but had already been living with another woman, Miss D, whom he had met in January 2019.

He cancelled several of his first dates with Miss D, claiming he had a sick brother in hospital.

He even sent photos and ‘play by play’ updates on his brother’s alleged conditions, despite the story being ‘wholly fabricated’, the tribunal heard.

A fifth woman, whom he also met on a dating site in 2021, claimed he would send her photos of his genitalia that were taken at work. And a sixth woman has alleged that he threatened to cut her throat.

The hearing is expected to continue until September 29.
