EXCLUSIVEA prostitute cuckolding kink… and his huge 'ego': Insiders reveal REAL reason Jason Biggs and wife Jenny Mollen have split – and ugly 'wedge' that drove them apart

Stress from Jason Biggs’s recent career resurgence and a newfound confidence following his impressive weight loss transformation are what drove a ‘wedge’ between him and his soon-to-be ex-wife Jenny Mollen, sources have alleged.

The couple announced last week that they were going their separate ways after 18 long years of marriage.

Now, insiders have revealed what exactly led to the split, claiming that a recent ‘change’ in Biggs was in part to blame.

One source tells the Daily Mail that actor Biggs – who found fame in the 1999 hit teenage sex comedy American Pie, and its accompanying movie sequels – had a noticeable ‘ego boost’ following massive weight loss last year.

Biggs, 48, said in April 2025 that he had shed 35 pounds after ‘some cholesterol issues’ led to him changing his diet and exercise routine.

‘Jason definitely has changed since his weight loss transformation. He lost a lot of weight and it definitely helped boost his ego,’ our source said.

‘I don’t think he was wanting to lose that much weight but it happened and he’s proud of the results like anyone who lost 40 pounds or more would be.’

In addition, the source said that ‘stress’ from his recent work projects also ’caused a bit of a wedge’ between him and Mollen, 46.

‘He had his first big directorial debut [with the movie Untitled Home Invasion Romance] last year, and that was a really stressful time for him,’ the source said.

‘Trying to remain in the spotlight and continue to put out projects that are just as entertaining as what he was known for previously can be a difficult task.

‘But he has this reputation and he knows that and he puts pressure on himself to do things that are going to get just as much attention.

‘Jason has had more stress in his life than Jenny lately and I think that’s definitely caused a bit of a wedge.’

Biggs and Mollen – herself an actress – were ‘truly a team’ during the early years of their relationship, said our insider.

A whirlwind romance that began while they were both working on the 2008 film My Best Friend’s Girl, saw them engaged and eloping within four months.

They now share two sons: Sid, 12, and Lazio, eight. But in those early days, the pleasure-seeking couple enjoyed all that newly married life had to offer.

Indeed, in 2011, the couple revealed that Mollen had even once hired an escort for her husband, who Biggs slept while Mollen lay in bed next to them, watching and eating a bag of chips.

‘It was for a birthday… we had only been together for a year or two, but we had been talking about doing something crazy and fun, and we had a Vegas trip planned,’ Biggs told TV host Larry David later. ‘The truth is… everything that could go wrong did go wrong.’

But that was then, and now our insider tells us that there have been growing ‘issues’ between the couple for ‘a while.’

Couples’ therapy ‘really helped them stay in their marriage as long as they have’, the insider added, but it seems to have run its course.

‘I think if they didn’t do therapy, they would’ve split maybe two or three years ago,’ the source said.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Biggs and Mollen for comment.

A spokesperson confirmed the split to People magazine earlier this week, saying that they are nonetheless on ‘great terms’ and prioritizing co-parenting their sons.

‘I cannot see them having a nasty divorce – and I don’t see them even rushing to get a divorce,’ our source said.

‘They’ve been together for so long – through all of each other’s ups and downs that their history together doesn’t get forgotten overnight.

‘Their kids are truly their priority during this time. Jason and Jenny are still going to be very much a part of each other’s lives.

‘They’re going to be there for each other when celebrating big milestones and special occasions, even holidays.

‘Their split is just what’s best for them as a couple and as a family. Some people are better off as friends than as a married couple and I think they just started realizing that later on in their marriage.’

A second source reiterated to the Daily Mail that the breakup does not seem to be a messy one.

‘They are telling the truth that they are still friends. They both mutually decided that they would be better as co-parents and friends than anything else,’ they said.

‘They cherish their past, but they both know that moving on is the best for them and their kids. Once their divorce is settled, nobody believes that it will be nasty. They are going to do the best for all involved, this is actually going to be a pretty amicable breakup.’

A third source agreed, stating: ‘They really did just drift apart. There is no other party or anything like that. The relationship just ran its course.’

Mollen has previously been open about how she was plagued with insecurities in their relationship, which she detailed in a 2019 op-ed entitled I Used to Be Jealous of My Husband’s Ex, Then I Became a Mom.

In the piece, Mollen detailed an unhealthy fixation she once had with one of Biggs’ ex-girlfriends.

‘In my younger years (read: most of my 30s), I did drive-bys down her block, posted pics of myself in cute outfits I hoped she’d stumble across while googling me, and reeled her into interacting with me by finding things of hers around our house and gifting them back to her,’ the New York Times bestselling author wrote.

The pair spoke about getting couples therapy in 2016, with Mollen stating: ‘We have been getting along at the end of the day because we have a therapist.

‘You need to have a representative convey your thoughts for you sometimes. If it comes out of my mouth, sometimes it just sounds like I’m Jason’s mom.’

The actor added, ‘You shouldn’t be married and not have a therapist. You’ve got to do it as a preemptive strike.’
