Helen Flanagan has taken a swipe at ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair as she insisted she will never date a football again following their bitter split.

The former Coronation Street actress, 35, the footballer, 36, have been feuding on and off since they broke up in 2022 after 13 years together. 

Now Helen hopes to find love again as she puts herself back out there starring on the new series of Celebrity Ex On The Beach.

Sitting down with Daily Mail to discuss the new Paramount series, the soap star was asked if she would ever date another footballer. 

‘No! Definitely not’, she said laughing. 

Helen also revealed she has no regrets from her previous relationships as ‘life is too short and I think you’ve got to go with your heart’.

Helen and Scott share three children, Matilda, 10, Delilah, seven, and son Charlie, four, and have been co-parenting for the last four years since splitting. 

The actress also told Daily Mail how she keeps her love life ‘very separate’ to her children as she is ‘very protective’ of them. 

She said: ‘I keep my love life like very separate, my children are so precious’

‘It would take a lot for me to introduce anyone to my children, because they’re like that’s so precious, it would have to be really right and a very sensible male, yeah.’

Elsewhere in the chat, Helen insisted she is sick of ‘shrinking herself and toning things down’ for men as she revealed what she is looking for in a relationship.  

‘I feel like I’ve had to shrink myself sometimes’, she said. ‘I think it’s a really lovely feeling when you’re with a man and you feel like I can really be myself here and they think I’m great, they think I’m really funny and I don’t have to tone myself down.’ 

The mother-of-three insisted she never tries to force a connect with a man as she has found the ‘connection is either there or not’.

Fans will have to wait and see which of Helen’s ex’s which could include her ex-fiancé Scott, Robbie Talbot or even boxer David Haye, she will come face-to-face with on the hit reality dating show which airs on March 31. 

Earlier this year, she laid bare the depth of her feelings for David, 45, in her autobiography Head & Heart, admitting she fell ‘deeply in love’ with the former world champion, though their romance proved complicated.

Helen lifted the lid on her ‘throuple’ with David, who she first met when they both appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2012.

The pair enjoyed a brief romance after her split from Scott a decade after the ITV show.

They crossed paths again when Helen bumped into David at an awards ceremony in autumn 2022, before he later reached out after seeing a lingerie shoot she had done for Ann Summers.

Now embarking on another search for love – having previously appeared on Celebs Go Dating – Helen has revealed she hopes to settle down with someone in the public eye, admitting she fears being taken advantage of outside the spotlight.

The star-studded cast include Love Island’s Toby Aromolaran, MAFS UK star Amy Kenyon, Love Is Blind UK’s Freddie Powell, Too Hot To Handle stars Chase DeMoor and Izzy Fairthorne, TOWIE’s Dani Imbert and Jedward’s John Grimes. 

In January, sources claimed that Scott had decided Helen had to move out of the £1.5M six-bedroom home they previously shared after communication between them ‘completely broken down’.

Helen eventually begged followers to stop sending her messages about Scott following their feud taking a dramatic turn.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, she shared a video insisting she ‘didn’t care’ about her former fiancé and wanted fans to stop contacting her about him.

The star said: ‘I’ve been getting messages as well, quite a lot of DMs about the whereabouts of the father of my kids’.

‘Please, I really don’t care. No one needs to DM me and tell me his personal business. I’m spared of that now’.

The house, which is in Scott’s name, was put on the market last year, and it’s now thought that he believes Helen needs to move into a smaller property as he wants to stop paying the maintenance.

Scott had previously put the house up for sale for £1.5million last May, but reduced the house £1.195million four weeks later. In September it was reduced to £995,000.

Celebrity Ex on the Beach Series 4 launches in the UK on Paramount+ from Tuesday 31st March.
